Expedition
On the map there was a green area right next to the hash and it wasn't labeled so I assumed it was a park. I figured it would be a great place to park and get to the hash as well as take the dog for a little walk.
Arriving in Franklinville just before 18:00, we turned down Chestnut and started looking for the park. It turned out that the park was in fact Mt. Prospect Cemetery and the roads through it were very narrow. I decided that it would be better to park on the road and walk into the cemetery. During the drive through though, it looked like the hash was down a very steep embankment in the trees so I figured I would just get as close as possible with Myka on the leash. Fortunately, the hash landed just before the trees started and at the edge of the drop-off. I got my pictures and while the hash wasn't over a grave site, the late Mrs. Stearns earned an Honorable Mention for the Coffin Potato being about 50 feet away and the closest to the hash.
After getting to the hash, I took Myka through the cemetery where I admired some of the ornate headstones and Myka investigated some 'concerning' wind-chimes and decorations...she is a little skittish of new things. We also stopped in the 'Really Old' section where I was very impressed with one couple's longevity in the mid-1800's where the wife outlived the husband by two years at 77. On the way home, we stopped and checked out an old Truss bridge over Cattaraugus Creek.
