Expedition

On Wednesday I caught a winter vomiting bug and that spoiled my evening and most of the early hours of Thursday. Thursday was OK but I felt weak. Today, I've been restoring myself to functionality whilst avoiding other people due to the infectious period. A visit to a hashpoint seemed to be a good way to avoid people! It's such an obscure hobby that it would be worth catching a puking bug just to meet a like minded person. The expedition had a dual purpose. I was checking out a parking place to see if it would be big enough to hold all the cars of my Waveney Ramblers' walking group. The car park was fine and the hashpoint was about 700 metres away along a litle used public footpath.

It's just possible that I was not ill but poisoned! I had harvested a wild mushroom which I ate for supper and the timing was about right for the toxic effect to hit. It might have been a Suillellus luridus or Boletus luridus. These are supposed to be OK if cooked but perhaps I had under done it. In addition I had a glass of wine and this combination is not recommended as there could be a bad reaction. I know enough about mushroon harvesting to know that the Boletus family won't kill you. Perhaps today I learned a bit more.
