Plans

A hash in Barcelona means going there by train, then subway and walk from there... or does it? Not this time! I am planning on jogging there and attempt a juggernaut expedition. I am afraid tron will not be possible since there is an unavoidable 3D loop... It is 15-20km and +-500m height difference and I am not much of a jogger, so I might be underestimating the distance (never jogged to Barcelona before). This means, there is a relative high chance of chickening out. We will see.

I will leave in a few minutes and plan 2h30m, in case there are any ninjas lurking in the wiki, which I doubt. (signing message for visible timestamp reference). --SastRe.O (talk) 13:25, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Expedition

Yes, I managed not only to achieve the hash but to accomplish the achievements I had planned :)

As I said, I am not much of a jogger, and those 16km intimidated me a little bit, not because I couldn't handle the distance (a little also for this reason) but because I didn't want to spend THAT much time. 2h30m seemed like good timing. So, the beginning was crucial, to feel my sensations and how I was doing.

So 10 minute warm-up, some stretching and off we go. Started very comfortable and soon enough I was entering the forest. This area here has been my jogging circuit for the last few months. It is a very beautiful part of the natural park of Collserola (which isolates a little bit Barcelona). It was kind of humid and muddy since it had been raining this last night, but nothing serious. Only the bottom part of the valleys.

This little summit here was a special point in this expedition. It was almost midway and right before the last climb and highest point of the track. A good place to assess how I was feeling and if I carried on or went back. I just felt like running.

The highest summit of Collserola is Tibidabo. It comes from Latin "I will give to you" which apparently was said by the devil to Jesus. And I mean, once you reach the summit and see this:

Who wouldn't accept this gift from the devil? Such nice views of Barcelona from up here. You don't see that when you take the train ;)

Now I had done all the elevation and was ready to fetch the last kilometres I had left. On the bridge to cross the highway OSM gave me the impression that the stairs would loop on themself on 3D and wouldn't grant me the tron achievement, but to my surprise they didn't. So tron achievement was still available. Juggernaut was at this point no more to fear. Straight line through the streets was easier here. Almost reaching the hash, on the Av. Meridiana (it has this name because it goes N-S like a Meridian a few meters after from where I crossed it) I saw some firetrucks, policecars and ambulances rushing down the street. Well, that's life in the city for you.

So I went one side of the street in, and reached the house. 2h10m. Good timing. I got to sneak behind some neighbours inside the building but could not take any pictures (I was also not so sure to takes pictures from the inside of some foreign home), also because I was asked by the neighbours if I lived there and when I told them that I was waiting for a friend who was about to come down I was asked, kindly, to better wait outside and it felt like the best idea. So, that's not really ambassador worthy.

Took some pictures and left the street from the other side. And then I wanted to take the subway (no way I am jogging back home) and some policeman where blocking the entrance to the subway. I was told to go to the next station. On the other entrance of this same station, it was also blocked by police and there where a few ambulances there... I learned on twitter that the station was indeed not operative and had to walk to the next one but didn't say why. I couldn't be for good news... so we will leave it at that.

Walked to the next subway station, and lucky for me there I could take another line which was actually faster to get home. If I had planned this more carefully ;).

On the subway station I specifically took the elevator in order to avoid some unexpected 3D-loop by stairs, and as shown on the map, the train lines never crossed. This way I was able to also achieve the tron ribbon.

Already at my city, I tried to jog from the train station to home, but my right food wouldn't let me. It's better so, I will have some rest tomorrow.

Tron-related note: The subway part was drawn by me on Google Earth. It still shows that the track never intersects. I hope you will trust me :)
