In the morning, I cycled to Osnabrück Central and took the train via Bremerhaven to Nordholz. The train usually continues to Cuxhaven, but at the moment there are just replacement busses. I preferred to start cycling from Nordholz, and did so.

On the way, I saw miniature Kugelbaken in a few front yards. The coordinates were in a light forest with coniferous trees and heath on the ground. In the forest, I located the coordinates and recorded proof.

This expedition completes my subdivision geohash for the states of the historical Weimar Republic (1918-1933). The last missing state was... Hamburg. But haven't I been to Hamburg before? Twice, once in Rahlstedt and once in Heimfeld, both of which were Prussian during the time of the Weimar Republic. And how is today's expedition even in Hamburg? It is indeed not within Hamburg's modern borders, but during the Weimar Republic, Cuxhaven and its suburbs (modern-day boroughs), including Sahlenburg and Holte-Spangen formed an exclave of Hamburg. The modern borders were established by the 1937 Greater Hamburg Act which gave Hamburg's exclaves to Prussia, and in return gave Hamburg some Prussian territory near Hamburg proper. Despite being Nazi legislation, the territorial changes mostly weren't reverted after the war, so this is my first expedition to Hamburg in it's Weimar Republic borders.

After leaving the forest, I cycled back to Nordholz on my way to 2023-10-26 52 8.
