In the evening, I took the train to Hengelo and walked to the supermarket there to stock up on peanut butter. From there, I walked the rest of the distance to the coordinates.
MyrtleGlacy was there already. We greeted each other, located the coordinates (he got closer than me) and recorded proof. MyrtleGlacy shared some tasty sweets with me.
We continued chatting on the way back to the train station, and I was able to catch my train back home to Osnabrück. It was nice to meet you, MyrtleGlacy!

Nothing better than a good expedition after work right? I left work and got on the train in Utrecht. Had to switch trains in Amersfoort, but otherwise a pretty uneventful journey. Arrive in Hengelo about an hour early and decided to walk around a bit because I’d never actually visited Hengelo before.
It looked like a pretty fun town, but 18:00 on a Tuesday was not the best time to visit I guess. Most stores were closed and most people were either eating or looking for a place to eat. Randomly walking around, I saw some cool statues and art. Many of the artworks had something to do with bears. Why? Who knows. I also found a cool Syrian pasty/sweet shop. They had all kinds of sugary snacks, and I couldn’t stop myself from getting some.
After the Syrian expedition, I needed to eat diner as well. I found a döner place opposite the train station entrance that had really good döner! Definitely would recommend it, if you happen to be in Hengelo looking for some fast food. Made my way to the hash. Saw a couple of kids playing a game that seemed to combine tag and hide and seek. Looked fun. Met Fippe and talked about hashing. Offered him some of the Syrian goodies. Glad he accepted them, even if taking candy from a stranger is something you should never do.
Went back to the train station together and said our farewells. Fun to meet you too, Fippe!
In my quest to reach the Subdivision Achievement for the Dutch Provinces, this was Overijssel.
