From Geohashing

Graticule name

Given that there is no Birmingham West graticule, would it be sensible to rename this one to simply "Birmingham"? -- Benjw 13:38, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Haha, I saw this the other day while deleting, and decided I couldn't be bothered fixing it. Good on you if you want to do it :) --joannac 19:28, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Right-o. If no local hashers object in the next few days I'll do so. -- Benjw 20:01, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Saturday Limits

Since most of us don't have cars, it will be difficult to get people to meet if we only attempt Saturdays. I suggest we all try to get to the spot whenever we can, even if it's not a Saturday. Since people have work, we should keep the weekday meetup time 6:30pm. Waq 15:07, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

6.30 may be a bit early for me but if its nearby then won't be too late, maybe its best if we just react to each new location by setting a time depending on where it is. I assume we would say on here if we intended to go to a particular day's location? SminkyBazzA 13:12, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Probably would be do-able... I won't be very available until after June 12th though, as I have exams. I'll start checking it daily after that. PodRED 09:32, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Loughborough Carpooling

I notice there are a number of us in Loughborough who can only meet locally. I'm wondering if anyone has friends they could press into service as chauffeurs? Maybe we could get a few carpool groups going. PodRED 22:41, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Are there absolutely no xkcd-ers in Loughborough with a car? Waq 15:56, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm just South of Loughborough, so could potentially give a lift - literally 'a lift' unfortunately, since it's a 2-seater.Archiewood 18:15, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

One so far - Becky. PodRED 16:13, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Would you be interested in letting us accompany you in your car when you go geohashing? Waq 16:05, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I'm from Loughborough too, and I know I'm new and have not been to a location yet, but any chance I can come with too? I'll pay petrol money obviously PkmnTrainerJ 11:07, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure if you noticed but its Becky that has the car, and PodRED who pointed it out. Has anyone asked her directly? SminkyBazzA 11:59, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Make Expedition Pages

Woo, you guys are active. You should make an Expedition page for every geohash you go to or try to go to, so that they show up in the daily expedition categories. Just make a link on your page, click it, and then put the pictures and expedition information there. -Robyn 15:38, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Going for it ....

In under an hour i'm going to try for a 3-point timetravelling multihash travelling from shrewsbury - bham east - northhampton grats. It may be abortive in a number of ways, including just quitting to avoid falling asleep at the wheel as currently I'm bushed after a busy day. Anyone with me? Damn, I need to find batteries and a good torch... Tahrey 22:17, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Bollocks. I am mother nature's bitch, and the british road system's rent boy. In the words of top gear, "that's not gone well", but not for want of trying, grandad. 77.102.101.220 03:00, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

User list

I've noticed the majority of users in the list are inactive. I propose we archive the list to a subpage and leave only the currently active (last 6 months, say) users. Opinions? --Joehardflec 16:49, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

  • I've separated the list into active/inactive sections. Feel free to move yourself to whichever section you feel is appropriate. I might move the inactive list to a subpage another time.
  • I'm moved the inactive list to a subpage now. Joehardflec 11:47, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
