The Manchester graticule is at latitude 53, longitude -2. It contains Manchester, Liverpool, Preston and numerous other built up areas.

The geohash for this day appears to be inside someone's house near the village of Hesketh Bank, which is North East of Southport. (map).
This is no longer correct - the new algorithm places the geohash inside the boundaries of a farm near Halmer End, Stoke-on-Trent. I'm going to be hovering around there, with a bit of food and a general sense of confusion. Tommy 03:08, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Saturday 24: a farmer's field northwest of Crewe (map)
Sunday 25: a field north of Barnoldswick (map).
Monday 26: a field next to a forested area north east of Chorley (map). In all likelihood easy to reach from Chorley train station itself.
Tuesday 27: The new algorithm comes into effect this day, leading to another field northwest of Crewe, very close to that on Saturday. (map)
