:I see your point. I am worried myself that the TV might make a hook out of that, and do not intend to claim the achievement if it will be so. ::::Oh, really? I tried to listen to part 1 and then gave up, getting the impression that they rather made their own listeners event based on geohashing. This impression is also based on the observation that their people don't show up in the wiki at all (except of ''one'' picture uploaded to the gallery without any comment), but happily try to shift the locations on the graticule maps all over the country to whereever it's no challenge to get to. Can we cut trespassing from that list? :) (No, seriously.) I know it's a sensible topic. In my opinion, there's no harm done from trespassing itself, if proper consideration is applied. No trespassing signs are often a legal substitute for "Enter at your own risk", when they are even put up on public land for safety reasons. Usually it's clear from the type of sign if it's meant to absolve the owner from getting sued, or whether you would really cause harm by proceeding. Legally, it's at most a misdemeanor, and may not even be that if the area is not fenced. I fully understand that people might get offended, and that it would shed bad light on geohashing if you -for example- trample their flowerbeds, but then that's when I would speak of vandalism. Strictly speaking, we wouldn't be eligible for the achievement, as we've been on former military land featuring several no trespassing signs (warning of possible dangers from ammunition parts, etc. - clearly the first kind of sign). -- Relet 22:55, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

I refer you to the main page disclaimer:

Disclaimer: When any coordinates generated by the Geohashing algorithm fall within a dangerous area, are inaccessible, or would require illegal trespass, DO NOT attempt to reach them. Please research each potential location before attempting to access it. You are expected to use proper judgment in all cases and are solely responsible for your own actions. See more guidelines.

Illegal trespassing is against the spirit and Randall's stated rules of geohashing. If someone says they don't want you on their property it's not up to you to decide that they really don't mind after all. -Robyn 05:44, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

I see your point. I am worried myself that the TV might make a hook out of that, and do not intend to claim the achievement if it will be so. Still, I think that the actual statement from Randall reflects the spirit much better than the current disclaimer does: "When the coordinate falls somewhere dangerous or illegal to reach, use your judgment."[1] This was eventually transformed into exactly the kind of legal disclaimer I mentioned above. -- Relet 13:02, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Ribbon

Does anyone have a good ribbon idea for this achievement? Believe it or not, I've actually already earned this one a long time ago and have the proof on my computer. I just never got around to posting it anywhere. Now, if there were a ribbon involved...

And nice job with the description Robyn! I laughed out loud when I read it! Thepiguy 02:22, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

DRS3

I've no idea where to put that so I put it here... There has been a report on geohashing on a swiss radio station. It's in swiss german (which means that a german german won't understand anything), and there is only a little bit to read on the website. Trust me, you don't want to read that, the only positive I find up to now is that they talked about geohashing at all. Oh and you don't want to connect with the website at all, it almost killed my browser (and THEY complain that our maps won't work with every browser...)

Oh, really? I tried to listen to part 1 and then gave up, getting the impression that they rather made their own listeners event based on geohashing. This impression is also based on the observation that their people don't show up in the wiki at all (except of one picture uploaded to the gallery without any comment), but happily try to shift the locations on the graticule maps all over the country to whereever it's no challenge to get to. Does Goodle Street View count?

During my expedition on 2009-06-13 in Victoria, BC, I ran into the Google Street View car:

Many months later, Google Street View was made available in Victoria, and it just so happens, they have a picture of me taking the aforementioned picture of it.

Would this count towards this achievement? If not, would it apply to another achievement? Thanks for your consideration. --Wenslayer 04:53, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
