Location

On a small island in the Oslofjord, known for its beaches and its camping grounds. Hippies are said to camp there for months during summer.

Today's battleship location is: H 9

Participants

Plans

We shall hop on the 11:45 boat from Vippetangen to Langøyene. Or maybe earlier. Or later. Damn hippies can't get that straight. But we will bring games. There will also be slacklines, and juggling, and a social experiment.

Expedition

eiggen

Woke up in time, hopped on a Bysykkel and arrived at Vippetangen at around 9:20. I met relet there and we jumped on the same boat to Langøyene.

Finding the hashpoint was fairly easy, it was on a camping field between a few tents. We put a marker on some sort of log that was surely used as a bench. relet left a note explaining the social experiment he concocted, and we walked away from the hashpoint, to go hike a bit around the island. We stopped at a point close to the water, where I started reading for a little while.

We met W and one of his colleagues a bit later (around noon).

We took the boat back at 15:03 and arrived in Oslo soon after.

relet

Woke up in time, hopped on the Timeexpressen to Oslo, and arrived at Vippetangen at around 9:20. I met eiggen there and we jumped on the same boat to Langøyene.

Reaching the island with the first boat in the morning, we discovered it to be a rather sleepy hippie island. But there sure were a lot of tents. After hanging out on the beach for a while, we decided that we should just sneak to the geohash, and leave the marker there, and a note to be discovered by the curious among the hippies. As we later should find out, hippies are not curious. At least not at that time of the morning.

We then proceeded to the nude beach on the other side of the island(s) (Plural, since they were two originally, before Oslo decided to use them as a trash dump). There is no camping allowed on that side, and we hardly met anyone either. Eiggen sat down to read a book, while I took the opportunity to test my raft and circle the island in it.

When I got back, eiggen had just got news that W_ had boarded a boat to the island. Lazy as we are, we sent them our coordinates and waited for them to find us. They found the geohash first, signed the logsheet, and then proceeded to find us.

After I had managed to pack my stuff together again (mostly), we hiked a further along this side of the island, and eventually reached the pier again. The rest of the time was spent with trying to slackline, juggling, playing starcraft (some of us are that hardcore) and waiting for the Pølser that never came.

relet achieved some kind of Minesweeper Geohash achievement
by discovering a real minesweeper during his expedition on 2010-08-07.
