I had a lot of things on for Sunday and went to bed deciding not to go for the hash. This would break my 5-hash streak, but I was philosophical about it.
 +

 +
However. I woke up at 6am and had a fire lit inside me. I knew that it was theoretically possible to ride to the station (27 minutes away by Google) to catch a train departing in 43 minutes, get off, ride to the hash, make my planned UK phone call with my friend Justina at 8am from a nearby park, get back on the train with exactly no time left to do everything I needed to do. And with this realisation came a pull with which no reason or logic can contend.
 +

 +
The hash itself was fairly easy. I climbed my bike up the unreasonably steep street to get there. My app indicated that it lay just within the boundaries of a house with two cars parked in the driveway - perfect cover. I walked in and around the cars, getting to the other side of the hash. I took a screenshot and got out before anybody got up and saw me through the window.

The rest of the plan came to full fruition, but created a lot of extra stress for the rest of my activities!

From this experience I decided to abandon my planning for tomorrow's hash. It was located half-way along the route of my train to get to a cycle tour in the Otways I was doing with my friend Jude. To complete the hash I would have had to get off the train, ride nearly 80 kms, and then get to the start of the cycle tour and this would cause big problems for the trip. I was retiring from my 6-day geohashing streak.

Some things are just more important.

From the train the next day, passing near the hash, I posted to our Gchat Geohashing group:

"To whom it may concern. It has been an amazing journey and I have learnt much. However, it with great sadness that I announce my retirement from the Early February Consecutive Geohashing Run, effective from 11:59pm last night, Sunday the 13th of February. Please respect my privacy at this difficult time. Thank you."

We had already made vague plans to catch up with Rhonda's parents somewhere mutually convenient, Ringwood say, or Lilydale. So the hash could hardly have been better placed. After a lovely Mooroolbark brunch with Rhonda's parents, we headed for the hash. Rhonda had realised it wasn't too far from Bert's new place, so we managed to stop in and visit him, and he was keen to come along to the hash too.

Expedition 1 - Felix Dance

I had a lot of things on for Sunday and went to bed deciding not to go for the hash. This would break my 5-hash streak, but I was philosophical about it.

Expedition 2 - Matt, Rhonda and Bert

Two in a row!

Just on the footpath outside a suburban home - easy.
