I had flown into Atlanta on a red-eye the previous morning and drove up into Tennessee, and was staying at an off-ramp motel north of Knoxville.  This hashpoint was a bit of a morning side-trip, but that's what adventures are all about.  I remember driving through the quiet little towns at dawn, being glad I was on vacation.  There was nothing much to see at the margins of the school's playing field, but I was glad to see it just the same.

Expedition

This is one of three expeditions I made during a trip to the Southeast in September 2019. About that time, the original Geohashing wiki was compromised; and I figured the game was up. I discovered the new wiki in December 2021 and am writing this in February 2022.

  • This was my first expedition in, or anywhere near, Tennessee.
  • It appears to have been the only expedition on September 8, 2019.
  • Writing home to [[user:Mrs.5000|Mrs.5000], I told her that "I geohashed in Tennessee, the 15th state I've tried and the 13th I've succeeded in. However, the recent hacking of the xkcd website may have essentially wiped out geohashing, which would be a pity."

Little did I know that the Dark Ages had begun, let alone that they would someday end.
