Expedition
Continuing from 2023-04-28 44 -122, I crossed the Cascade Mountains on Highway 20 and pulled off on a national forest road on the southeastern slopes of Black Butte, a perfect Fuji-like cone in Central Oregon best known for its fancy eponymous resort. For the second time in a couple of hours, I was climbing uphill through a forest, but on the dry side of the Cascades the forest is much less dense and the walking much easier. It was a terrific walk up, and a terrific walk back down.
I was definitely starting to feel like I was on vacation.
I stopped in Sisters and Bend for food and rest, and then continued east-southeast to 2023-04-28 43 -119.
