Location
A field track near Amalienfelde, and right next to the railway tracks. The lake near Vehlefanz looks like it's worth a visit.
Participants
Plans
Going by mini cabrio. The rear seats are still available. Bring ski goggles and short legs. :D
We'll set off 18:30 at Hauptbahnhof, parking deck P-3. Follow the orange "sixti car club" signs. We might meet above ground a few minutes earlier, too. ;)
- Can we meet at Kanzlerinbahn? :-) I have no idea where the car parks are at Hbf --Davidc 20:29, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- Sure. Well, or right opposite at the main entrance, I'd suggest. But if we don't see you there, we'll be looking over there as well. Oh, and we've got the car until 23:00 max. Actual planning is roughly 3-4h, depending on the awesomeness of the lakes. -- relet 09:55, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Bring GPS Gear and Photo Gear, maybe stuff for swimming might be a good idea too.
- I'll bring a tripod for a group shot --Davidc 16:16, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Expedition
Apart from being only three hashers in the end, the crazy plan went well! Lyx, relet and phoenix met at the main station and grabbed their Mini for the evening - phoenix being impressed at the fully electrical things folding away our roof. On their way out of Berlin we soon discovered that Lyx in the backseat started ducking low above 35mph. Raising the front windows made it a bit easier for her.
Going to Amalienfelde by Mini cabrio was a breeze - literally. The hash was in a field a few hundred meters away from the main road, so we parked there and strolled off through shrubby vegetation of different kinds along the edge of a grain field. The hash lay near a railway line and even nearer to some very thorny bushes full of fruit. Alas we made it, and in good time too! Ye good ol' sun gave us a warming thumbs up and pleasant light for the hash photos too. Thanks pal!
On the way back we decided to make a stop at a very nearby lake between Schwante and Vehlefanz. At this lake, being covered to a huge degree by a number of peninsulae, we could literally walk to the center of the lake, where we could view wild cows, had to dodge dangerous bulls (at least according to a sign stating "Danger! Bull-Meadow!") and finally were afraid to go too near to a so-called 'private camping ground'. There were lots of sporty activities going on there but we decided not to join the private party.
On the way back to the car we all admired the romantic setting with the full moon shining oh so bright (for us). Putting the car back into closed shape we then headed home, philosophing about the moon and guessing what kind of engine was put in our car. Even phoenix' trusty nav-system stopped complaining about imminent loss of battery power so we made it back finally in a great mood at the rental station from where our ways brought us safely home.
