Oh man, this graticule makes me sad sometimes. Do you want to meet on the side of a cliff accessible only by kayaking 40 km up Toba Inlet with your climbing gear, or jump over to Surrey and meet on a glacier? We're not the "pick a wussy alternate" kind of graticule but geez, the most acessible all weekend is probably the Surrey, a kilometre off Dewdney Trunk Road in an apparent clearcut. -[[User:Robyn|Robyn]] 15:26, 12 September 2008 (UTC) | Oh man, this graticule makes me sad sometimes. Actually, it's foresty department trails. See [[2008-09-14 49 -122]] for details, Robyn. I got up with the intention of doing what had to be done to geohash today, and here's an opportunity to have an exciting expedition, but I'm feeling my inner chicken.

-Robyn 15:26, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Actually, it's foresty department trails. See 2008-09-14 49 -122 for details, Robyn. I think it's just a hilltop clearing! - Wmcduff 16:26, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Near E41st Ave and Nanaimo Street. Unfortunately I personally can't make it due to previous commitments, but it shouldn't be too hard for anyone who feels like going for it! Srs0 16:25, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
It's 2.5 km from my house! I'll be there around six tonight for the walk geohash, and possibly a picnic. -Robyn 17:47, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Really? No way! Curse my 17:00-19:00 one-time class (which thepiguy also has)! Ah well, have a good walk and picnic! Srs0 19:44, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
I can go later! I'm not working tomorrow. Maybe I'll have a midnight picnic walk geohash. -Robyn 20:24, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Shoot, I can't make it at all tonight. I have to bike straight home at 19:00. It would have worked out so well! *sigh* next time I guess...
Good to know you're still alive though! I was starting to get worried! Thepiguy 22:01, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Near Granville and W49th Ave, this geohash should be nice and easy to grab! Unfortunately it's in someone's yard, but the road outside will be close enough. I'm planning on attending, and I hope to see others there! Srs0 14:07, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
It really is disturbingly easy to find out personal information on the Internet. I won't post my results here (because it would be both wrong and creepy), but in ten minutes of searching public databases, I was able to find out the address where this geohash is located; the e-mail address and phone number of someone who lives there (or who lived there recently enough for a Google hit); and the current state of their property taxes. Yikes.
I won't be there on Sunday, but I sure hope they appreciate winning the Couch Potato Geohash. Do you plan to knock on their front door with the award? Osmie 18:12, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Not sure if I can make it but it is quite convenient indeed, in Kerrisdale. There are apparently some good Taiwanese cafés around there. Queerasmoi 18:30, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
I might try to get there, but it's a bit far from Abbotsford... -Wmcduff 18:39, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, one one hand i'm working that afternoon. but on the other hand, its just so close. Are you guys going to be there at the official meetup time (4pm)? I probly wouldnt make it till 630-7. Straylight 19:22, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
I have somewhere to be for 17:00, so me and srs0 were going to go around 13:00. We're also going to make a trip to the local squishy store, only 1.4km! We'll try and leave an xkcd sign of some sort nearby. Thepiguy 19:37, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
I live right around the corner (relatively: King Ed and Dunbar) so I'll be there! It'll be early though because I'm leaving for Seattle that afternoon. woohoo! Sparks 23:05, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
What time are you going to be there? I have nothing in the morning, and it's only 15km from my house so I can make multiple trips! Thepiguy 02:39, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps once a sign has been left, each of us can add our signature and username and the time we got there :) 24.82.139.90 02:51, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
I won't be able to make the hash. The ValleyMax and TransLink systems don't meet in Aldergrove on Sundays. :( -Wmcduff 03:32, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
Group 1 made it! We left an xkcd sign on the manhole cover to the west of the house, right by the big hedge. We would have singed it too, but... we both forgot a pen... Thepiguy 19:50, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Sweet! I'm hopefully hitting it up in a couple hours or so. Better late than never. Sparks 22:11, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm going to be at todays hash around... 9:30 or 10:00 tonight. If all goes as planned, I may drag along a few friends too. Thepiguy 17:35, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

I'll make my way up to North Vancouver around 1pm. Coming? :) --Sparks 23:22, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm busy in the afternoon. But I was planning to head over in the morning. I'll make sure to leave a good marker! Thepiguy
What time in the morning piguy? I was thinking about heading there myself in the morning, as i've got work in the aft/eve. Straylight 11:42, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Wah, I wanna come, but I'm in freakin' Slave Lake. -Robyn 11:49, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Wait! I can make it in the morning also, but was planning on sleeping in - I'll sacrifice some sleep for a hash with others! What time? Sparks 19:28, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
I added some details to my talk page. Hope to see you all in the morning! Thepiguy 06:56, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm going to see how close I can get to the Victoria hash. I don't imagine anyone would like to come too? Thepiguy 05:40, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Me and srs are going to try and be there. We both told some other friends that we were free on the weekend, but assuming we can weasel our way out of those plans with will definitely be there! I'll be brining nibbs! Thepiguy 21:02, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Things aren't looking good for today. Srs is out, and I won't know for sure until later. Thepiguy 17:10, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Me and srs0 are going to go to the Vancouver location in Nanaimo. Who's up for an adventure? We'll be taking the 12:55 ferry to Departure bay Point from Horseshoe Bay and the 17.45 ferry from Duke Point back to Tsawassen. Our method of transportation will be bicycle, leaving from UBC at approximately 9:30 in the morning. Thepiguy 18:30, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

I intend to go for the Surrey one today, at a schoolyard in Delta. Robyn 07:10, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Surrey Geohash for today is very accessable, on the SFU Campus, so I'm going for it. If anyone wants to meet up there, let me know. Straylight 19:22, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

I may be making a late attempt at today's hash, if only to test out my new reciever. The hash appears to be on, or very close to the sea to sky highway, just past furry creek. If anyone else is so inclined, let me know, i'll check before i head out.
Straylight 01:13, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh good! I'm cheering for you. I looked at it on Google Maps and thought that it looked doable. I even imagined pulling over there and seeing the cars of other geohashers there, like we were a real happening graticule or something. What kind of GPS receiver did you get?
2008-06-18
I'm going to be returning to the hash at around 17:30 on my way home from work to get a picture (I did check the map until I got to work and discovered I'd already done it). If anyone else is planning on going let me know and we can arrange a more definitive time.
Thepiguy 17:44, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
I would be there, but I'm out of town, working and I don't have a way to get to the local one. Spend an extra second there for me, please. Robyn 23:01, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

The location (for Surrey) is between two houses in Abbotsford. thepiguy and srs0 are planning on meeting there. There's a park nearby where we're planning on actually meeting (so that we don't have to spend long between the two houses). The park is a block or so to the West, and there appear to be parking spaces on Fern Street. The actual event page is here.
2008-05-27
Planning to be at the location between 18:00 and 18:30 (PST), depending on whether or not we have to stop on the way to pick up tape measures.
Update: Tape measures have been acquired! Should be there by 18:00.

I'm foolish; I geohashed the wrong date to get the info which used to be here. Deleted as it's irrelevant.
--Osmie 15:11, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Notable Dates
I propose moving all information pertaining to where to meet up if it has not been decided to the discussion page to keep the main page clean looking.
--Nigma 15:37, 24 May 2008
I somewhat agree there. The problem is that not everybody checks the discussion page, so they won't necessarily see that. I'm thinking maybe just leaving the upcoming and most recent event or two on the main page and the discussion of them here? I'm going to try a few changes to aim towards something like that.
