Sashazeg and I were driving home from a three-day bushwalk in the Grampians - geological curiosity of Western Victoria - when we got word that there were two geohashes passibly on our route home. This being the first, we drove along the Old Geelong Rd before turning off and parking a kilometre from the hash outside a wheat farm.
Sasha decided, again, to stay in the car so as not to trespass, while I jumped the fence and strolled towards the hash. It was extremely hot and I was beginning to feel relieved that the hash was now only 400m away when what should I discover but that a vast wheat field was separating me from it. Undeterred, I found a spot close enough to the hash and strolled through, creating a linear crop 'circle' as I strod.
The feeling of wading through the wheat somewhat reminded me of swimming, and I was careful to avoid snakes and burs in my socks. I saw the farmer way off in the distance on his combine harvester and got ready to duck when he looked my way. Luckily, I was at the hash, taking photos, and stumbling my way back to the path and thence the car before he noticed. Next: hash number two for the day.
Here is the Google Maps route I took.
