The Port Alberni graticule encompasses a large variety locations. On Vancouver island, there is the eponymous city of Port Alberni, as well as the right half of Courtney to the north. Located in the Georgia Straight, are the islands of Denman, Hornby and Texada. In the north east, back on the mainland, there are the communities of Powell River and Saltery Bay. On the very eastern edge is also located ~90% of Pender Harbor.
Participants
I don't think there are any native geohashers but here is a list of anyone who has been:
Achieved Dates
- 2008-09-21: Robyn and thepiguy cycled from the days first location in Vancouver.
- 2008-09-01: thepiguy made the virgin hash on Labour day, because the idea of a 237km bike ride sounded like a good idea at the time.
Glorious Attempts
- 2009-03-29: thepiguy celebrated his birthday by taking a van full of people and two kayaks part of the way to the geohash.
