Close to bed time and not feeling at all tired I set out for a double hash expedition. I drove from Beccles to Loddon and then headed east. There was a convenient off-road parking place and it was a 25 minute walk in the pitch dark to reach the hashpoint. The public footpath was quite uneven for about half the distance. Half an hour before midnight, my droid reported this.

The hashpoint was on the overgrown access road for a wheat field. It was extremely quiet. There was a faint hum from a distant pumping station. Much of the land here is below sea level and has to be drained. The Hardley Flood nature reserve was close by. Water fowl, mainly geese, could be heard calling and splashing about. Distant own calls rang out. A thin fog was forming and there were few stars. The moon had set long ago. It was a wonderful warm, still summer night.
