Plans

I'm in Munich for the week, plans are to walk there from my hotel tonight (2013-09-09) shortly before midnight and go for a midnight no-batteries geohash. -LeslieHapablap

As I have to get up early tomorrow, I'll probably make this a bicycle trip during daytime. -The T-Man (talk) 14:53, 9 September 2013 (EDT)

I got an email from Almagest that he also wants to visit the hashpoint today. LeslieHapablap (talk) 07:54, 10 September 2013 (EDT)

Expedition

LeslieHapablap (talk)

I am in Munich attending a conference at the moment, and the hashpoint was very conveniently located in walking distance to my hotel. As soon as I noticed this hash I alerted Zertrin and The T-Man. Unfortunately Zertrin just arrives in Munich on 2013-09-10 late in the evening, so he will not be able to make it. Also, sadly enough, I cannot meet The T-Man even though he will go to this one: he has to get up early and I am busy all day, so a midnight geohash was the only option for me.

The hashpoint is actually quite interesting as it lies both on a street and on railway tracks. It is directly on a railway bridge over a quite busy street, so probably thousands of people will be geohashing unknowingly today. Because of this particular location the point can be easily found without gps device and I chose to use this opportunity for a no-battery geohash.

At 23.45 I started from my favorite pub in Munich, the "Flex", where they have nice music, nice people and most importantly: a tournament quality foosball table. I had to walk for about 10 minutes and found the place without any trouble. When I arrived I took some pictures and left a sign for The T-Man. Then at midnight I made sure no cars were approaching and walked on the lane in order to actually pass through the hashpoint. Afterwards I returned to the "Flex" and a little bit later to my hotel (walking of course to get the walk geohash achievement).
