About

This hashpoint was located off of I85 and not too far south of 285. Woodveil checked the coordinates just after 9:30 and planned to leave for the hash at 4:15.

Expedition

Woodveil

Chris was having a conversation while waiting for one of his classes to start when the subject turned to plans for the rest of the day.

Chris: Well, I've got another class at three, but then at four my brother and I are- Hey, do you have any more classes today?
Cyrus: No...
Chris: Want to go on an adventure?

And we didn't even have to use force.

And all of a sudden we had a Drag-Along. It took a bit more convincing, but we managed to persuade Cyrus to join us on our expedition without telling him anything about geohashing or the wiki. He had already heard of xkcd, so we get bonus points for that. Anywho, we drove down to the hash without incident, drove over it for the Speed Racer ribbon, and parked the car. We went back to chalk the spot in the road when we were approached by some curious homeowners. Nick explained geohashing to them, but apparently they didn't like it. They may or may not have made us eligible for the Police Geohash ribbon, but we didn't stick around to find out. All in all, successful drag-along speed-racer hash.

I got to the Hash mere minutes after Woodveil had left. I was hoping that I had made it to the hash before they did. I left work early today to beat them to it. I drove past the mail box because there where two men parked in a pickup truck in the front yard. As I was walking back to take a picture of the mailbox, my heart sunk as I noticed the chalk already on the pavement. Just as I noticed that, the homeowner hopped out of his truck and asked what I was doing. I started with explaining the concept of geohashing as a scavenger hunt only with GPS. Just as I was explaining that Atlanta's finest started to roll up.

Okay, time to retell my story again with a little better explanation only now with the nice police officer listening. I guess I should have been an ambassador. After a better explanation the homeowner then agreed that since he knew that I wasn't going to break into his house, he let me take all the pictures that I wanted. The nice police officer went on his way.

I made it there about 4:55pm and left the area for Norcross about 5:15pm
