Expedition
With the hash in the Oil City, Pennsylvania graticule about as close as it can be to me, I figured I better not waste my chance to pick up the SW graticule for my minesweeper ribbon. It was an uneventful drive to PA but I did follow Rt 62 and passed close by the hash from the day before as well as one of my earliest expeditions on my way.
When we got into PA, we started to look for our turn, but the intersection was poorly marked and we nearly drove by it. As we got close, we looked for where the pipeline crossed the road and from how the map looked, I was hoping to park there. Driving by it, I saw that was impossible as the road was narrow and the ditch, while also narrow, was tire-eating deep. I had to drive by and find a place to turn around. Looking for a spot to stop, we found a place where the road was slightly wider and the ditch wasn't as close to the road. I was still in the road, but cars had time to see my car and room to get around.
Walking up to the pipeline, I was glad the hash was not on the other side of the road because there was a fence blocking access that way. Off the road, the dogs were very excited to get off leash and zoom up the hill to go exploring. We walked down the pipeline about a half mile to the hash and had no trouble finding it. We got our pictures and continued walking the pipeline where we found a nice stream that the dogs played in for a bit. With no easy crossing, we turned around to head back to the car and home.
