Plans

Expedition

I was just back from a vacation to Germany. I had not traveled there for quite some time for well known reasons, therefore I had a lot to accomplish and not much spare time. I was nevertheless always checking the local geohashes, but they were all relatively far and would have needed more time than I could spend.

So, now back in Spain I was keen to resume geohashing. The location was relatively close and I had already traveled most of the route on the expedition 2021-05-29 40 -5 and therefore I knew that it were good quality roads with scenic views. I just couldn't find out if there was a parking place for Wendy where the paved road ended and if the geohash was publicly accessible, but I wanted to give it a try.

The last 10 km of the ride were new to me and partly a bit bumpy, but OK. Fortunately, it turned out that I could easily park Wendy at the beginning of the unpaved path. While walking in the heat, I was thinking about getting a “hash motorcycle” with some off road capability.

When I reached the closest point on my path to the geohash, it became clear that it was behind a stone wall with some barb wire on top. But there was a slip through that had obviously already been used by several other people, so I dared to squeeze through. After walking 200 further meters through the wilds with high grass, bushes and trees, I finally reached the geohash.

I made my way back to the bike through the heat and enjoyed a relaxed ride home. Comparing it to Germany, I really appreciated the little traffic I have to face here in central Spain (outside of Madrid, that is).
