Expedition
Driving home from Maryland, I was a little worried when the available apps didn't show the day's hashpoint even at 09:45. With an eight hour plus drive, I had to be on the road and if there was a haspoint close, I knew I'd miss it. A bit North, I stopped to grab something for breakfast and checked again. Still nothing well after 10:00. What's going on?
Fortunately, by the time I got back to the car, the points had finally shown up. It looked like this hash was going to be easy to get to; It was literally less than a mile from my route home with a road that was really close. On the way, I stopped for lunch a few hours later in Harrisburg, PA and around 14:00, I was nearing the hash.
I'm glad I set my GPS on my phone after lunch because I would have totally blown by the road if I hadn't. Driving down the narrow State Forest road, I looked for my turn-off as Google maps had a short dead-end road ending right next to the hash. Getting there, I discovered a driveway for a cabin instead and being very early in the season, the car-gate was closed. There was a small area where I could pull off the road to park and I made my way to the cabin.
It was a REALLY nice cabin and I'm sure would make for a great place to spend some time in the woods. Walking around, there wasn't any road, but I did find a small trail heading in the right direction. Getting up the hill, it looked like it was possibly an animal trail as it split off here and there. Working my way through the low, wet brush, I zeroed in on the hash. Doing a little GPS dance, I got a good reading and took a few pictures. Another success and new graticule added to my list, I made my way back to the car and continued on my way home.
For the consecutive hash, here is a link to Yesterday's hash, and as it turned out, I was able to continue on another expedition the next day.
