Hi. My name is Rhonda, and I like adventure. Robyn thinks I am at least as insane as she is, possibly due to my first ever geohash being a (planned) 4 hour kayak expedition.

Geohashes attempted

• 2009-04-25 49 -123 (Gambier Island, BC): Success #5, clifftop picnic hash in the sun with Robyn and Wade.
• 2009-04-23 48 -122 (Orcas Island, WA): Border, ferry, bicycle, camping... no trespassing geohash with Robyn.
• 2009-04-22 49 -122 (Langley, BC): Success #4, via public transit. Met Robyn and played hopscotch.
• 2009-04-16 48 -122 (Semiahmoo Bay, WA): Success #3, via transit and bike. Met Robyn on the bus and thepiguy at the Peace Arch at 1PM, and rode there together.
• 2009-04-13 49 -122 (Langley, BC): Success #2, via public transit. Met Robyn at the hashpoint about 4pm.
• 2009-04-08 49 -123 (Vancouver, BC): First attempt, first success - 5 1/2 hours in an inflatable kayak I bought that morning. Success with Robyn!

• thepiguy on 2009-04-16 falling off his bike at the Peace Arch.

Upcoming

• I have my bike back! And the brakes and gear shifting work again!
• Scout the bridge access bike route for the 2nd Narrows Bridge - will need to know this if I want to do a pure bicycle geohash that isn't downtown or on the north shore.
• No water geohashes for me until the new shipment of Sevylor kayaks arrives at the end of the month. Mine has a manufacturing defect and Canadian Tire is going to replace it no problem ... as soon as they have any to replace it with!
• I'm not complaining, mind you. Those will be resolved soon and then I will have two reliable forms of transportation for the whole entire gorgeous summer of geohashing!
• Thinking of buying a bike trailer, to carry the kayak on. Any recommendations?

Goals

My origin hash spot looks so easy to access, I'm going to go for it next time I visit my parents. It's about 500m (straight line) from highway 5, and google maps shows what appears to be a logging road that passes within 20m or less of the spot.

Personal firsts

This is things that I did for the first time in my life while or because of geohashing.

• Rode a bike across an international border.
• Went to the US on a lark. (All other trips were planned in advance.)
• Bicycle camping.

Rhonda earned the Border geohash achievement by crossing the Canada-USA border on 2009-04-16 to reach the (48, -122) geohash.

Rhonda earned the Meet-up achievement by meeting thepiguy at the (48, -122) geohash on 2009-04-16.

Rhonda earned the Public transport geohash achievement by reaching the (49, -122) geohash on 2009-04-13 via translink.

Rhonda earned the Water geohash achievement by reaching the (49, -123) geohash on 2009-04-08 by inflatable kayak.

Upgradeable ribbons

Rhonda achieved level 2 of the Minesweeper Geohash achievement by visiting coordinates in Vancouver, British Columbia and 2 of the surrounding graticules.
