The Manchester graticule is at latitude 53, longitude -2. It contains Manchester, Liverpool, Preston and numerous other built up areas.

Saturday 31st May '08

  • The geohash for this day appears to be inside someone's house near the village of Hesketh Bank, which is North East of Southport. (map).
  • This is no longer correct - the new algorithm places the geohash inside the boundaries of a farm near Halmer End, Stoke-on-Trent. I'm going to be hovering around there, with a bit of food and a general sense of confusion.

Past Geohashes (24th - 27th May '08)

  • Saturday 24: a farmer's field northwest of Crewe (map)
  • Sunday 25: a field north of Barnoldswick (map).
  • Monday 26: a field next to a forested area north east of Chorley (map). In all likelihood easy to reach from Chorley train station itself.
  • Tuesday 27: The new algorithm comes into effect this day, leading to another field northwest of Crewe, very close to that on Saturday. (map)
