Expedition
I've let my GPS in my room in Karlsruhe. But hey. no problem my father has an even better one. So I gave him the coordinates and let him plan the Hash (without my help, to add some adventure) and he made it really good. Ok its not to hard with a GPS that has even a routeplanning tool. He looked for some new batteries and we went in our big car (because we were 6 Hashers!!!!) and made our way. It needed his time because the boyfriend (you now who I mean) drove the car, for the first time, and it has not much horsepower.
My father navigated. A few kilometers linear distance he said: "Ok now right. There should be a way. Slow down please. Hmm, yes we have to walk a little bit more than we thought after seeing the map." So we turned around and parked as near by as possible. Then we walked, I don't know how long, but it was long, even after we've made our on shortcut through the valley instead of around it. We even slided a few times downward (sometimes with, sometimes without control).
At about one kilometer away from the Hash the GPS notified that the battery is low. No problem we have new.... Damn! My father forgot them on the table at home! Instantly we turned the brightness as low as possible and hoped that it will hold until the Hash. It does. Pheww. There my little sis did the Hashdance for quite a while. The boyfriend again was shocked from the senselessness of geohashing: "And now?! This isn't again one without a treasure??? I thought this time. Last time I already did not understood why we were there...". It was fun :D We even placed a little treasure at the place of the Hash, so future people can find it, and wonder about it. The girls did a little snowman, what was hard because the snow don't wanted to be formed near the Geohash. Not like all the way to it... We took a few photos and went back. This time around the valley because we all were too tired to make it lup all this steep walls. Ok a little bit we crossed, but not as crazy as before.
Somewhere on the way back the battery died, but it came back in the warm car and I've seen a Geocache directly on the side of the street. We stopped and me and my father searched for about 5 or ten minutes but found nothing. The others stayed in the car because they were frozen through.
WEEYYY made it ! :)
