Ninjas

I dub thee Ninja Slayer! Keep up the good work, and don't worry - I periodically go back and dig through the Expeditions categories to make sure my Most active graticules list is up to date. --Thomcat 06:28, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Didn't realise it had its own name! Glad to be of service, though - I'll keep on doing that sort of stuff when I can. -- Benjw 20:58, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Being tired and getting things wrong

I hope you don't mind me pouncing on the weird category name you suggested. As I edited the photos I saw that you hadn't used it, so it might have just been a mispaste, and you knew what you were doing all along. Fixed now, in any event. -Robyn 20:46, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

No, I don't mind at all -- I didn't suggest the category name, just tidied up the link to a category page which was already suggested. I think it's probably better using the meetup category as you've done, though. I guess I was just looking for things to fiddle around with -- I've got a university assignment due on Tuesday which I haven't even started the reading for yet, and the wiki is good for procrastination! -- Benjw 20:52, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
That's what I'm doing! Hitting Random page and fixing things! -Robyn 21:01, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Giggle: I didn't mind where it went. If you felt strongly about it to move it, I wasn't going to move it back. I'm guesing you didn't realize I was creating the page, and were just trying to keep things neat.
Yes, that was the case. And now I shall stop trying to keep things neat and will get out of your way. :-)
Don't let me edit things in Saskatchewnannanwhan late at night. -Robyn 18:51, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I noticed you were having to correct one or two graticule names today. Aren't you glad that you don't have a province called Sḵwxwú7mesh, though? -- Benjw 19:15, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
You laugh! In an alternate universe that would be the name of my own graticule. The town signs are bilingual English/Halkomelem (using that orthography) as I drive north on the Squamish highway. I'll have to get to a geohash up there sometime and send you a picture. We'll also have to start calling it "Squa-seven-mesh".-Robyn 19:37, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
I'd like to see it. It's fun to imagine how things might have been if one small thing was changed. Somewhere I have a novel that's set in an alternative universe where the Roman empire lasted until the present day. (I bought it but never quite got around to reading it.) That sort of thing. As for the language itself, it just looks like an unpronouceable mass of letters to me. Polish -- which is becoming an increasingly common migrant language in this country -- seems similar. Someone I know has a Polish boyfriend whose name is Przemysław, pronounced Zhemek. I suppose it makes sense if you're used to it. -- Benjw 20:08, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Over-greedy use of photo templates

Would it be okay if we replaced one of your three photos for Monday with one of ours? We're in the last time zone, so by the time we got back from our expedition, all four spots were taken. -Robyn 15:27, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Yes, no problem. Sorry -- I meant to write a note on the template page to say that, but forgot. Take off more than one if there are others in the queue! -- Benjw 16:04, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Oh thanks. We need some kind of system now that there are enough expeditions that the early birds can fill up a gallery. I suppose some rules like one per person as well as one per graticule, and you have to wait n days between posting images to the gallery would work for now. I'm going to put up a snowmeghan and wait to see if thepiguy has a better picture. -Robyn 16:08, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Some rules might be good. I've had a photo for each of my expeditions so far, so perhaps I should give it a rest for a bit if there are other expeditions that day. It does seem a lot more busy on this wiki than it did only two months ago, when I started reading it. -- Benjw 16:18, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Triple hash!

Great job on the triple-hash! Bear was most impressed -- NCBears 16:09, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! I had oh-so-grand plans for doing more, but had an attack of being sensible as I sat in my car after the third one. Now struggling to make the expedition reports actually sound interesting.  :-( -- Benjw 16:18, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Old expedition plans

... of mice and men ... are usually left as-is on the wiki. -- Jevanyn

Hello

Hi there, thanks for the welcome. Yes, I am in the north of the London East graticule and just south of Cambridge graticule (so I'll be divided between the two depending where the hashes fall). Just starting out at the moment and trying them when I have the time. -- Dave_Dubya 13:35, 26 April 2009

Ok, I'll drop you a line when I plan to make an expedition in the south of my graticule or the north of yours, and it would be great to meet you if you're able to make it that day. -- Benjw 14:36, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Category:Geohashers

Let me know when you've decided and documented what the category tree should look like and I'll make an announcement encouraging people to fix up their own branches. -Robyn 18:36, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the note on my talk page. It's nice to know that I wasn't just writing the report for myself. You seem to be much more committed to geohashing than I am, and I'm impressed with your success so far! ---tjm1983 01:00, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Categorizing Images

Hi Benjw. You just asked me to categorize my images. I'll do so, but I don't want all the pictures to be marked as meetup-pictures (i.e. there is nobody on the picture or it's not even near the hash). What Category do you recommend for photos I made while on track?

The usual thing to do is simply to use the meetup categories anyway! ("Meetup" is a bad name; "expedition" would probably be better.) -- Benjw 17:53, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
