How wonderful to read about an international meetup! Well done to you and the children for driving for so long to make it happen. I see you've updated the meetup graph page too; Sermoa and I have planned a meeting in a couple of weeks, with thepiguy near London, so that meetup graph is getting a bit more connected at the moment :) --macronencer 06:19, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Wonderful! Amazing! Brilliant! I think this may be my new favorite expedition. How often does a mother bring her children to meet people from the Internet! (Ok, that actually happens quite a bit here, but this is the first time that those people were also from Germany!) Good try with the German! I must admit I'm a little relived your kidsweren't able to speak German, it took me 4 months to get that far! :D Keep up the awesome work! Thepiguy 09:17, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- You may also want these!
This user earned the XKCD-100 Achievement - by voyaging 385km to reach the (42, -70) geohash on 2009-09-17.
This user earned the Thomcat Number of 4 - The xkcd-100 rules say that it's only for Saturday meetups - which is a bit of a shame as I think the length of this trip deserves some kind of recognition, especially with children in the car. --macronencer 11:27, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- The discussion page for the XKCD-100 meetup suggests that we create an XKCD-100 Honorable Mention for trips that didn't take place on Saturday. If I knew how to make myself an Honorable Mention ribbon, I'd claim it.
- I told Manu it was my first time meeting another geohasher, and she said that I would be well connected on the meetup graph, because she and Reinhard had met thepiguy and "thepiguy has met everybody."
- It looks as if I'm the only person on the meetup graph who has a link to at least one other geohasher, but has no links to geohashers from her own home continent. I hope to lose that distinction by meeting some of the local geohashers. Macronencer, it's great that you and Sermoa are going to meet thepiguy.
- Thank you very much, thepiguy, for your appreciation of our expedition, which to me is like having a rock star comment on my singing or something, and thanks for the ribbons. Thanks again to Manu and Reinhard for spending time with me and my kids instead of seeing the sights.
- My daughter wants to know why Thomcat is the geohasher to whom one measures one's distance. Sara 00:48, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
