Participants

Plans

Foehammer

Probably there sometime between 13:00 and 14:00, probably going by car

Calamus

To a parking lot by car, eh? Now that's sporty. ^^
Now, everyone who has read any of my reports on the Wild West knows how much I adore Argovia. So I'm definitely not missing out on a hash right next to its capital. Catch train Zurich–Aarau at 12.04pm, then walk through Buchs. Sounds easy enough.
I expect to be at the point at 1pm and will then wait for Foehammer till 2pm (I'll bring some work, obviously). FH, if I'm not here when you arrive, don't feel obliged to wait.

Expedition

Calamus

It didn't come unexpected. The Algorithm had been trying to cure Calamus's Argovophobia for quite some time now. It had led him to many places in the centre of Argovia, teasing him ever closer to Aarau, its capital. Two days before, the hashpoint had fallen no more than four kilometres from its borders. But today, for the first time, the hashpoint was actually in the town itself.

Well, not quite. Rather, it was in Suhr, one of the communes that had merged with Aarau seemlessly. But Calamus got the idea. He had to overcome his irrational fears and explore Aarau. After all, the Argovians had proven multiple times not to be as bad as some people considered them.

Looking over the GeCo statistics, Calamus remembered that Foehammer lived close-ish nearby. So he decided to link the planning page on his talk page. But the planning page already existed. Foehammer had planned to go there on his own accord.

On Saturday, Calamus caught the train to Aarau and walked there. While it was a bit of a distance, his path led him all along one single street, so it wasn't much of a challenge. The hashpoint was in a hedge on a parking lot and easily discovered. However, Calamus wanted to wait for Foehammer, who had announced to show up around this time, so he sat down on a wall and worked.

He felt slightly odd. So far, the only people he'd met at hashpoints were Waldzitherclown (whom he had brought himself), a manservant (who appeared to be mute) and Gertrud Schmidlin-Habermacher (who had been dead for five years). But Foehammer was an independent fellow geohasher, a living proof that his madness was, at least, a shared madness. How was it going to feel to meet such a physical token of geohashing?

Calamus didn't find out that day. Foehammer seemed to have changed his plans and didn't show up. Too bad, Calamus thought, and left for Aarau. There he started a little revisiting tour of another expedition that had led him through the town and then had a mediocre falafel. At 4pm, he returned to the hashpoint to make it an official Saturday "meeting" and returned to Zurich afterwards.

Foehammer

Such a nice chance to meet a fellow geohasher, and what happens? Life. First of all, I forgot to check the expedition page this morning - otherwise I'dve notice Calamus' participation. I was at my girlfriends place this morning and we were surprised by a prepared brunch around 12:15, which lasted around 45min, so I was already late. Unfortunatly my brain already forgot about the hashing, since I had planned a shopping afternoon in Aarau. I wasn't in Aarau before 14:30 or even later, and geohashing came in mind as late as 17:00, so we called it a day and didn't bothered going there. Checking the page today made me feel very sorry, I owe you at least one beer next time we meet ;-)
