Expedition

I hemmed and hawed all day about how to approach this one, but I knew I'd want to see what the weird hole-thing is.

After work, I read a few chapters to let the sun get lower, then took the bus to the Green Line train and rode it to the end of the line at Clackamas Town Center. From there, I ran about a mile northwest to get to the hashpoint, which was in a neighborhood of medium-large family homes packed unusually close together -- it felt like 3 parts suburban street to 1 part apartment complex. It wasn't hard to get to the weird hole-thing, but even standing there looking at it, it was hard to tell how deep it is or what it's for. It's just an overgrown pit with concrete walls and a security fence around to keep the kids out. Or possibly in. But probably out.

After that came the hard part, running five more miles on a hot evening to get to the six-mile goal I'd set for myself. I didn't really expect to make it, but I did. Yay me.

Afterwards, walking the rest of the way home in twilight, I saw a familiar shape in the distance: Mrs.5000, out on an evening stroll! We exchanged notes, then I continued inbound and she continued outbound. Now, a smarter man would have used this encounter to address an issue I had noticed earlier in the run: I hadn't brought my house key. But I'm Michael5000! So, I arrived back home and then spent 45 minutes or so on the back porch, waiting for Mrs. to return from her walk. But she did, eventually.
