Plans

Go there with my bike in the morning, so far as the paths allow it, and then walk to the hash, that it seems it is placed in the middle of the forest.

Expedition

Over the map it looked like the hash would be in the middle of the forest, where no paths go near that precise place, but I am somewhat familiar with that area and I know there are some paths rideable by bike which do not appear neither on google maps nor openstreemaps, so I was not that worried.

So first part of the expedition was pretty much routine. Biked by the Sölkensee, all very lonely and peaceful, and approached today's hash. Where the maps indicate ended the path but in a more abrupt way than I expected. I was still 500 meters away from the hash.

I parked there Winterbuche and made the final approach by feet. The start was kind of easy. The terrain was walkable. The only, I must be thankful that it hasn't rained much in the last two weeks. Otherwise, I would have ended full of mud. But no, we have had a couple of dry weeks. Usually, on this forest, even if I am alone, I am always accompanied by the fauna. There is usually no silence. You hear a bird over here, or a woodpecker working over there, sometimes you meet even a deer or a scared squirrel. However, I realized that in this part of the forest, where there are no paths, I was in absolute silence. Not a bird to be heard or a woodpecker in the distance. Only my footsteps could be heard. And I also started to realize that if you could get lost in a forest, is exactly here, where you have no reference. The scenery changed somewhat suddenly. A few of the threes I encountered had some kind of mark on it, what it seemed resin of the pine, but in a cross-like form.... Blair witch, is that you?

...obviously I am kidding ;) Not lying. But there was no weird atmosphere nor some mysterious silhouette that disappears suddenly behind the trees. Just a lonely hasher in the middle of a lonely forest.

At this point I was only like 150 meters away from the hash. I continued to follow some deer steps. At least, they know the terrain so I could use that information. And finally I arrived at the hash. Photos taken and there I discover with some surprise a little cabin. Just 10 meters of the hash position. That is funny, nothing to be seen for a few hundred meters, and there has to be a cabin just where today's hash fell (actually otherwise, the cabin has always been there, it's the hash that fell where the cabin is).

After the dance and all of the usual, I went back to where I started. Made the path back to Winterbuche still waiting for me. After that I continued with my bike to find some geocaches in the area, since I was already there.

And that's the expedition of how I could have met a witch and it ended with a simple hash.
