The N36, W78 Graticule

The Henderson graticule boasts of rolling land, forests, parks, large bodies of water, and abundant wildlife. A notable feature of this area is a large line of granite lying west of the ancient geological Fall Line. This line of granite produces remarkable outcroppings throughout the region.

Wonderful places in this graticule include Occoneechee State Park east of Clarksville, Staunton River State Park NW of Clarksville, Kerr Lake State Recreation Area near the NC/VA line, Falls Lake State Recreation Area between Raleigh/Durham, and Eno River State Park north of Durham.

A really cool note is that this graticule is 3 hours from the Outer Banks of NC and 3 hours from the gorgeous Appalachian Mountains, which contain the highest point east of the Mississippi River (Mt. Mitchell, 6,684 ft/2037 m).
