The Richmond, Virginia graticule is at latitude 37, longitude -77.

Today's Location

Geohashers

Andrew, from Short Pump, is going to give this a shot on saturday if he can convince his friends to come too.

Blaine, living in Southside this summer, could get into this.

Dan, from the West End (but not Short Pump), is up for an occasional Saturday excursion.

Dustin lives in Chester and is down, just let him know. (contact info in profile)

James, real-life friend of Randall's since middle school, has found this to be pretty cool, on the whole.

Jamie, Richmonder. Late arrival to the "scene", game for anything in the Graticule on Saturdays.

Julie is less adventurous than most xkcd people, and will gamely try to get there on Saturdays when not too much trespassing is required. Shoofle is often her companion.

Kari, when the mood strikes and she can get a ride, which usually means another random companion.

NCBears hail from N36 W78 graticule.

Paul, Richmonder when school is out, can't think of anything better to do on Saturday then drive to some random location and hang out with other similiarly bored people. Might be working though...

Pegram is a Chesterfieldian. He has not gone geohashing yet, but is interested (provided it is not in the northeast corner of the graticule; my car couldn't handle it).

Peter, from Glen Allen, is willing to give this a shot so long as he's back from college.

Spencer, from the Short Pump, is up for just about anything.

Upcoming Geohashing Proposals

Most recent proposals/comments at the top, please.

Hey! Nobody's done this in a while...or at least not recorded it on the wiki. I'm going today! Someone else come too! Dan 19:02, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Things have been quiet around here lately, so I'm proposing an alternate location of Echo Lake Park, off Springfield Road in Henrico. Dan 15:44, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm willing to meet-up at tomorrow's point if anyone else is game. By the way, does anyone know of anything there? Jamie out

James is considering making a trip to the 8-16 point, but can't decide the point of entry so that at least we could park at the same place and meet at the cars. Also, he works til 3:45 and would be late.

Dan missed out on the Pocahontas excursion, but recommends a cat with toast, butter side up, strapped to its back for better results with the trebuchet.

Paul thinks Pocahontas State Park sounds great - and has therefore suggested it as an alternate location. I might be a little late but I hope to see that trebuchet!

Tyler is wondering why most of the locations are near the edges of the map, far away from people.

Successful Geohashes

03-22-2009: NCBears – Quick Geohash on side of road.

Randall comes to visit our humble graticule

9-27-2008: Dan had the brilliant idea of a meetup at Echo Lake Park rather than the original meetup point. However, upon driving by the park at the appointed time, he discovered the park was closed for lake dredging. Oops.

6-21-2008: James, Julie, and Clint met up in the front field of Pocahontas State Park (near 37.365007°, -77.572639°) and later made a few test firings of the trebuchet, Bangarang. Ricky was there, but left to rejoin us later.

6-14-2008: Peter read the blag and met up with Randall and Doug on Belle Island downtown since Aylett is a bit too far away. There was a kayak competition going on, and swimming was had by all despite nobody thinking to bring a swimsuit. Alternate meetup site = success. Pictures here

5-31-2008: Shoofle and Julie met up with Paul in Suffolk County Saturday afternoon for a nice visit and some time kicking around a soccer ball. We didn't get to exactly the right spot, but it was close enough. Pictures here

stepol (and their kids) from the Central Virginia Geocaching Association made a Memorial Day run to the Shady Grove location.
