Pre-planning note

Looks like I can't take the entire day off work after all; currently, looks like the earliest I can leave will be around noon, maybe 14:00. I think I may opt for designating an alternate along the way to the hash, or something like that, if the coordinates aren't reachable from an afternoon departure. - Elbie 00:28, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Wade says he'll go if it's in Yaletown. Wade is a very enthusiastic geohasher, as you know. -Robyn 02:16, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
It's not exactly Yaletown, but I can make it anyway. --Wade 14:34, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Location query

Somebody's back yard, got that. What is that to the west of that? Some sort of massive solar farm? --Thomcat 14:18, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Agricultural greenhouse. Vancouver doesn't have solar farms. We have the same weather as you. -Robyn 15:04, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
It is a solar farm. It just produces biomass instead of electricity.  :-) Jiml 19:21, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
LOL - Hope you guys had a good geohash. I wish I could have gone, but today was right out. --Thomcat 03:43, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Too late...

Doesn't look like I'm going to make it. Heading back after 8, closer to 9 if successful, will have me getting home close to midnight. Don't like doing that too many times in a week. Sorry... -- Rhonda 20:09, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

No worries. Do you get off work earlier that 17:00? If so, we could push the times up sooner. - Elbie 20:46, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
Well, it's a combination of getting home late and having something else I wanted to do this evening. Work has actually been intermittent the last few days so I could have maybe made a daytime attempt, but that would not let me meet up with everybody who had to work. -- Rhonda 20:52, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Planning moved from Mainpage

It's a nearly three hour bus ride from UBC: 99, then Expo Line to King George, then 502 to Langley, then C-something to the hashpoint.

Since people have work, let's try for a meetup outside the house where the point is at 20:00.

Elbie's plan

  • 17:00 - leave UBC by bike
  • 17:40 - arrive Commercial Station
  • 18:30 - arrive King George Station, then bike to Langley [1]
  • 20:00 - arrive at arrive at point, conduct ambassador hash

Wade's Plan

  • 18:40 - leave work by motorbike
  • 19:00 - pick up Robyn's motorcycling gear
  • 20:00 - arrive at point

Robyn's Plan

  • 13:10 - leave home on foot
  • 20:00 - arrive at point

Congrats on the birthday geohash, Elbie! I would have come if I was in Vancouver. Also, impressive walk geohash, Robyn! Most impressive! Too bad the property owner was a jerk. I'm glad you got tot he hashpoint despite him though! -Srs0 20:08, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! - Elbie 20:14, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks too. I'm very glad I got there after all that walking. I'm glad it was on the path, but still disappointed I didn't get to share my triumph with someone who could just happily think I was crazy. Maybe he's had problems in the past with rogue lesbians eating his potted hydrangeas. -Robyn 20:16, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Congrats on the hash! Sorry I couldn't make it out. I wasn't feeling too well in the late afternoon and decided against biking several hours in the rain. Yangman 00:25, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

I hope you're feeling better now. We had one walker, one biker and one motorbike, so that's a pretty successful geohash. -Robyn 01:02, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
