A remote place in the Northern Black Forest. There seems to run a forest track close to the hash. Accessibility by bike is probably acceptable (but due to a line closure for maintenance, you can't get take bikes with you on the train if coming from the south), next train station is a good number of kilometres, bus connections are traditionally bad in that area. Haven't checked the timetable.

I'm planning to go there by bike from Freudenstadt, probably not for 4 pm but earlier. Planning is here: [[2009-08-22 48 8]]. Anyone interested in joining? --[[User:Ekorren|Ekorren]] 16:58, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Upcoming locations, plans

2009-09-18 (Friday)

I'm considering coming out after work. It's an approximately 2.5 hour train ride each way, so I don't know if I'll go if it'd just be me. If anyone else is going, please tell me!

If I am going, I'd leave Würzburg at 16:37, arrive at Illingen(Württ) at 18:52, and leave at 20:00, arriving back home at 22:47. As such, I could meet others at the hashpoint between around 19:00 and 19:45.

Again, I doubt I'll do this if it's just myself. Thepiguy isn't interested. Any chance you're going Ekorren? -Srs0 18:51, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Definitely not. This is most probably a fenced yard/garden areal, no trespassing as such, not particularily interesting and too much travel cost for just going there and back for a short visit. --Ekorren 19:32, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
As Ekorren said, probably No public access, but if you are going there... Also, as Illingen is inside the KVV it wouldn't even cost me anything. My train from Heidelberg (where I currently am) would arrive at 19:03. Koepfel talk 19:39, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Huh, I never even saw the fence while looking at it. I'll debate it. It's 28 euro for me if I do decide to go (after a BahnCard50). I'll try to make up my mind tomorrow morning and I'll post here as soon as I've decided. I hope that a decision tomorrow morning isn't too late for you, Koepfel! On that note, any chance you're feeling like trying for an ambassador if we do go? I would do it myself, but I still don't know enough German. Yes, I'm terrible. -Srs0 19:52, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Would be more like 19 EUR for a Baden-Württemberg-Ticket Single, wouldn't it? Still, I don't think it's actually worth it. There are so many great hashpoints in the Pforzheim graticule, do you really need to visit one of the least interesting ones there ever was? Another point is that tomorrow evening might be needed as planning time in case interesting hashpoints come up on the weekend. --Ekorren 20:54, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure, would the ticket be valid for the whole way? I'm starting in Bayern, so I'm guessing that's the extra cost. Also, I was thinking of going not because of whether it was interesting or not, but because it wasn't extremely far away. Since I always start in the NE of the 49 9 graticule, it's rare to get a hashpoint that I can actually reach after work in 48 8. Regardless, I don't think I'm going to do it. I had a medical appointment this morning, and got to work later than expected. I'd rather not arrive late and leave early in the same day. So sorry Koepfel, but I don't think it's going to happen. -Srs0 08:39, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
The Baden-Württemberg-Ticket is valid on basically all local public transport within of Baden-Württemberg, and on a number of railway lines outside of the state, including the line from Würzburg Hbf to Lauda (direction Heilbronn-Stuttgart).
You're right that this one is uncommonly convenient to reach from Würzburg. But if you plan on going on a day with more time, and accept a bit of a walk, I'm sure you'll find a good (better) point some day. Maybe something in the Northern Black Forest. It's worth a visit, and you can be almost sure I'll join you (if I know it the evening before). --Ekorren 08:49, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Old and deprecated naming talk

This page should be renamed/joined to/with Karlsruhe, Germany by largest city policy. Karlsruhe is only partly in this graticule but it is more than double the size of Pforzheim. Karlsruhe isn't the largest city in the bordering graticule so there is no name collision. I created Karlsruhe because that graticule was not in All Graticules and discovered Pforzheim only later.

I would object. Naming a graticule after Karlsruhe makes its location ambiguous, and the city is not large enough (compared to its surrounding cities, e.g. Mannheim) to name the two graticules after it, making it a split city. lyx suggested naming it Karlsruhe (South). I don't care strongly, but I'd opt for Pforzheim. -- Relet 13:05, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
