Expedition
After visiting 2022-10-02 54 13 near Wüsteney, I walked west until the path was skatable again, and skated back to the train station in Grimmen.
From Grimmen, I took the train to Neustrelitz, and saw a familiar station on the way: Burg Stargard, where 2019-12-15 global was located. From Neustrelitz, I took the train via Berlin to Leipzig, where I overnighted in a hostel.
I got a bed in a mixed dormitory. In my experience, when hostels offer female dorms and mixed dorms it leads to the mixed ones being de facto male dorms. This time however, they put me in a room with two girls. It didn't bother me though, I hope I didn't bother them either.
The next morning, I ate breakfast and took the train to Chemnitz. There, I saw the Marx Monument which was a lot larger than I expected. From Chemnitz, thought I would be taking the train to Zwönitz, but the City-Bahn that arrived is probably better described as a tram.
In Zwönitz, I attempted to inline-skate towards the Geohash. That idea was quickly put to rest, the terrain was too hilly, it would have been to dangerous. That was a bummer, since I did not know if I would be able to visit the Geohash on foot and make it back to the station in time.
But then my rescue arrived: Rain! Yes, I got wet, which was not nice, but this should dramatically increase my chances to successfully hitch-hike. Lo and behold, a very nice handyman in a van actually stopped for me. Bad luck though, almost immediately after he picked me up, he got a call that he had to turn around to Zwönitz to meet a customer. (Isn't it a holiday?) So I continued on foot for a while. But then, lightning struck twice, and another very nice man in a private vehicle stopped for me, and he drove me almost the entire way to my destination.
Now, I was at the entrance of the forest and only had to walk about 200 meters to reach the coordinates, which were directly on the path. After recording proof, I reflected on this expedition.
I am proud to have now reached coordinates in 50 different graticules, making me half a Graticule Hopper, and to have now reached coordinates in all 16 states of Germany, completing this subdivision geohash on the Day of German Unity.
Since the very nice driver had bought me so much time, I did not have to take the main street back Zwönitz, so I walked down a more scenic route via Kühnheide. From the station in Zwönitz, I took the tram back to Chemnitz, and from there I took the train via Leipzig back to Hannover.
