Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain
From Geohashing
About
At the location 28 -16 (Today's location) the Tenerife graticule can be found, which is formally known as Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain (even when for most islands nobody knows their biggest city but many people know the island's name). Almost all (more than 99.98%) of the island Tenerife (wikipedia link) is in this graticule, and nothing else except water. The chance for the hashpoint to fall on land is about 18.78%.
On Tenerife the hashpoint can be in a large variety of interesting locations:
- In the center it can be in the great volcanic landscape of the Las Cañadas caldera with the volcano Teide.
- In the northeast it might fall into the Anaga mountains with their evergreen laurel forest, usually covered in fog/clouds brought by the tradewinds.
- In the northwest the Teno mountains make geohashing difficult.
- There is the fertile Valle de La Orotava in the north.
- Many beaches and even more tourists in the warm and dry south have a chance of recruiting more geohashers on the spot.
- Old cities like Puerto de la Cruz, La Laguna and Santa Cruz, mostly in the northern and northeastern part, also give room to possible expeditions.
