In the southern part, there is one National Park and several Landscape Parks, a type of protected area of lower status than National Parks that can be encountered in several Central European countries, of which the most notable are:

- Eagles' Nests Landscape Park
- Kraków Valleys Landscape Park with limestone rock formations
The general landscape varies, we can find here farming grounds, forests, urban areas, hills and flatlands. The biggest or otherwise known cities are:
