Expedition
You have to imagine that jealousy has probably been gnawing at Madeleine ever since her sister got to go geohashing on the 2014-04-06 45 -122 expedition. Doubtless she was thrilled when I admitted that the "short walk in Tigard" I had suggested was in fact a geohashing expedition. "Oh my God," she texted back, "the short walk is going to be through three fields full of brambles and a parking lot." That wasn't actually the case, but it's always flattering to know that your friends understand your hobbies.
It was a rainy, rainy day in the suburbs, so we waited out the worst of it at a coffeeshop on the main road that was so spectacularly charmless that it almost came back around the other end to become charmingly shabby. The coffee itself was pretty good, which is something. Eventually it cleared up enough so that we were ready to brave, not brambles and parking lots, just some quiet suburban streets. The hashpoint itself is at the dead end of a street, but we followed a little path further along and found the local park on the other side. Then we wandered around a bit and got back to the car before the next squall arrived.
