If you are going to drive from Portland, Oregon to Grand Junction, Colorado, any reasonably direct route follows Interstate 84 from the Boise area into the Salt Lake City area.  So to claim this hashpoint on the freeway shoulder, all we had to do was turn on the emergency blinkers, pull over onto the highway shoulder, and brake fairly aggressively. That got us to about 12 meters from the hashpoint. So, we pulled forward about 12 meters.  Perfect.  Once there was a gap in the traffic, we pulled back onto the road and got back up to speed.
