Expedition

My car SatNav told me I had arrived but I clearly had not. I had to re-program it to do the last mile. On 2015-02-07 52 1 I dropped my droid phone, splat face down in some mud. It cleaned up easily enough and seemed to be OK but today, it's misbehaving. At this hashpoint there was a good 3G signal but it refused to log into the wiki so my live "Arrived" message failed. Now I'm unable to get the evidence photo off the phone! Drat and Double Drat! I have had to remove the battery twice after lock-ups. Now I'm going to try the wiki upload again using WiFi. It worked! And the phone GPS failed to lock on for the hashpoint before midnight. Thank goodness I had the Garmin GPSr which was behaving.

The walk was on yet another public footpath followed by a muddy field perimeter. The hashpoint was very close to a drainage ditch and I teetered on the edge to get the proof photo. Close by there was a rather fine "lonesome" mature pine tree - not the usual kind grown for timber but a parkland specimen. In the background the red lights on the TV transmitter mast were glowing brightly. The moon was hidden in cloud but there was still starlight over most of the sky. Owls were calling.

The drive home was easy enough, ignoring the SatNag which wanted me to use "A" roads which could not possibly have been quicker than the route I chose.
