Expedition

I had a volunteer event at a Camp I used to work at in the morning and on my way, I would be driving right by this road. However, being a Saturday, I felt I would rather wait until the afternoon and ride my bike. The event at camp was short, and I was back home a little after Noon.

I wanted to take the dogs out but we are in a heat wave to keep them from overheating in this weather, I took them to play in a creek at a county park close by. I was surprised we had the whole place to ourselves. Normally, when it's this hot, at least a few people also cool off in the creek and explore a little bit.

Getting back, I checked the map and easily memorized where I needed to go, figuring to pull out my phone for the last section when I got to the hash-road. Arriving in the neighborhood, the Hashdroid app guided me to the hash area. I was originally thinking it would be in a small strip of woods between two properties, but I was guided to the edge on one side and the hash was JUST out of reach from the road. Taking a couple steps over the grass, I was able to get close enough to record a success within the margin of error.

Back on the road, I took a couple pictures and continued my ride toward East Aurora before turning back. My bike computer says I rode 6.46 Miles to the hash, but it was acting up initially and I lost a couple tenths; Google says it should be closer to 6.8 Miles. I ended up riding just over 20 miles.

With Tomorrow's hash further away and again on the side of the road, this is the start of a Consecutive hash. It's also within riding distance, so this will be another bike ride.

With the Dark Ages a couple months after this expedition, I'll give it a lot of extra time to see if someone else posts an Expedition before claiming a Last Man Standing ribbon.
