[hide]tzzzt... there i are
AKA my home graticule
Melbourne, Australia (specifically, Melbourne East )
myka also lives in #geohashing a lot, when a computer is available (so usually).
Where I (might) go Hashing
Melbourne East - my home graticule
Melbourne West - the other half of Melbourne
Bendigo - my hometown, just next door as well.
Hashscot
I've designated a Hashscot (mascot) to stand in for me in my hash report photos (at least on those occasions when I don't meet anyone). Its first hash was 2009-03-15 -36 144.
Right now it needs a name.
I have a Cunning Plan
Currently traveling by public transport and bike. I'll be a lot more likely to go interesting places once i have a car again... and won't be limited to just the city then. Looking forward to that, and utilising the full graticule.
In fact, since I prefer to get out of the city on weekends, i might try for some more interesting graticules as well.
Some form of GPS might be more helpful though. Currently I'll be limited to pre-noting and good old fashioned map-readery. (or maybe Google maps mobile if there's a handy wifi hot-spot nearby)
List of things to have for the next time
This list will evolve as time progresses
- Sunglasses - because I don't need flies in my eyes while cycling.
- A
GPSorWAP- because either could let me use computer-ated mapology
- (now have wapness enabled, so there's something at least. problem is Google Maps Mobile has a 300m error margin when running off the towers)
- (now have a borrowed older and not so accurate GPS, yay!)
- A way to get tracks off the GPS
A car - because the trains in Melbourne... are not great.gots cara replacement the drink bottle holder on my bike.- Another map than google to double-check addresses with.
- A camera, because my camera phone is only adequate, and far from good.
- A name for my hashscot.
- more - because i forgot to write things down.
Expeditions
Melbourne East, 2009-02-07 -37 145 Success, but silly to have tried.
