Hi. Do you mind if I move :Category:Not reached - Time Constraints to :Category:Not reached - Time constraints for consistency? -- relet 20:40, 31 March 2009 (UTC) | Hi. Restricted Area Geohash
- Nice job! In retrospect, it's highly unsurprising that the first Restricted Area Geohash happened at a particle accelerator:
- particle accelerators tend to be restricted areas;
- they tend to employ the kind of people who read xkcd; and
- they encompass vast swathes of land.

- You're right. Where were all the other Fermilab people? By the way; it's just occurred to me that if you're patient enough, you might be in a good position to attend the first Underground Restricted Area Geohash, unless the CERN people beat you to it. 203.97.216.171 01:35, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- Congratulations! That is very awesome. I agree with 203.97.216.171 that there was definitely some selection bias. Brett Daniel 04:51, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- Congrats! This is exactly what I meant when I wrote the requirements for this achievement. FunkyTuba 05:33, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
"Fail"
I completely agree with you regarding the "Failed" categories. I would never have named them that because getting out of the house and travelling all that way is in no way a failure. "Reached" and "Not Reached" are better terms and I don't know why Thomcat put "failed" on the reason categories. He does acknowledge on the page where the categories are discussed that it's not really a failure, but you've hit the nail on the head with the fact that it feels bad to have that category on your expedition. I always feel bad putting it on someone's page. Yes, by all means, celebrate your approach to the geohash. If you have any suggestions for encouraging people to do so ... well it's a wiki so you can encourage. The name+timestamp mark is achieved by typing four consecutive tildes. -Robyn 15:28, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Replacing Categories
I see that you are currently changing the "Failed"-categories to "Not reached"-ones. Relet has a bot, that can replace categories automaticially, much faster that anyone of us could do by hand. He will get on it as soon as possilbe. Just telling you this to save you a lot of work. Koepfel talk 20:16, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hey, yes, I know about the reletbot, but I did volunteer my services and actually I don't really want to stop doing this; I'm reading a lot of wonderful stories from people all across the globe. If I didn't have code I had to write today I'd gladly change all of the articles by hand. Oh, and I agree with Robyn (again), your signature is really neat. --Virgletati 20:23, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, just felt like I had to warn you, but if you also read the reports... I know how tempting it can be to browse/edit a wiki when you have work to do, which is in fact, what I'm doing right now ;) Koepfel talk 20:33, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
- The renaming categories had to be done by hand because each one has its own peculiarities. The Not reached - Incorrect date category not only made no sense, but has almost entirely been replaced by the Origin categories, so I left it in failed. And I like V doing the caegorizing by hand. He can catch other errors/issues as he goes and fix them. Maybe the expedition has been in the wrong category all along.
