This worked out perfectly. If it was a normal day, I would not have gone and probably wouldn't have made it even if I did. However, a co-worker has been developing a new process to help support our system we run and was planning on cross-training myself and another co-worker. Since we can't make changes to Production applications during the working day, we needed to stick around after 5pm to work through this process and learn.

The plan was to work until 18:00 and we got through everything right on time. Now that it was later in the evening, rush hour was pretty much over. I walked to my car and drove to the airport, contending with virtually no traffic (compared to rush hour). Arriving at the Cayuga Rd exit, I parked on the next block from the hash in the residential area next to the airport. If this was during rush hour, it probably would have taken me close to 40 minutes to drive out, and Cayuga Rd would be full of cars (well past the intersection where I parked, too). It would have been very dangerous for me to walk out into the street, and I was definitely too far standing on the sidewalk. But now, without any traffic, I was able to step into the momentarily empty street and quickly grab a successful screenshot before getting back to the sidewalk. It is still a larger street next to the thruway entrance after all.

Interestingly, today's hash has thousands of potential people who could earn the Curse of Unawareness ribbon, and that's NOT counting all the cars that drove down Cayuga this day. This hash is within about 100 meters of the main Buffalo Airport runway, which definitely qualifies for the Air geohash achievement. Before I left to drive home, I crossed the road to the airport fence and saw a plane that appeared ready to take off from this side which was surprising. Normally they take off going toward the hash, but the winds this day must have been out of the North. So anyone landing at the Buffalo Airport this day would qualify for that very rare Air Geohash if only they checked their handy Geohashing app!
