Plans

The idea is to grab Winterbuche in the morning after breakfast. It could be... maybe 3 hours to the hash, probably going through Hanshagen, Kessin, Züssow, Oldenburg -> Hash. Have something to eat there, and go back passing by Ranzin, Gribow, Dambeck, Klein- Groß Kiesow and back home, looking on the way for somewhere to rest for a while and for a remote mailbox from where I can send some due postcards to friends.

Juggernaut is unfortunately not possible by a little margin (1:18 could be possible but I don't see any way for 1:20), but the idea is to earn the Tron achievement. Let's press our thumbs. --SastRe.O (talk) 22:24, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

Expedition

Well, it has not been the easiest (or normaliest) expedition, but the coordinates have been successfully reached.

I waked up earlier than usual, and as planned I had everything ready to leave after breakfast, however taking my time, I was in no rush. At 08:51 I was already mounted on my bike. Yesterday it rained for a while, meaning that today it was quite chilling and we would reach only 20ºC maximum. At 9 it was a little bit cold, but once I start pedalling I warmed up easily.

First minutes went well and once inside the NSG Eldena I stopped to mount the video camera. This time I made sure it had battery (not like last time). I tried different perspectives, starting with a lateral one. The route was as planed, and for the first part was the same I took going after this hash. Already warm I continued pedalling. In Hanshagen, I changed the perspective of the camera, to a rear view, showing what I was leaving behind (that which I don't see). What I didn't keep in mind is that in the rear of the bike, the support wasn't as stable, and I think it ended up a little shaky. Well, the paths aren't that smooth either, so it may be reflecting reality more truthfully ;)

In Züssow I took a different turn in respect to the other expedition I mentioned and went towards Oldenburg. There in Oldenburg I stopped for some water and it coincided with the battery of my camera ending. So close, I was about... 10-15 minutes to reach the hash? More or less.

Well, here I entered the forest which has the name of the location and had to take a longer path to reach the hash in order to earn the tron achievement. I even had to cross the train rails in a not-official point, so to say (with all the care of the world, obviously). And there I was, reaching today's hash. :)

It was almost on the path. Took proof with app, a long panoramic view of the area (I hope I don't forget to upload it) and heard some woodpeckers. Well, some mocking woodpeckers, because although I could here them very closely, I wasn't able to spot them. Some tits I did see (the bird, of course ¬¬), and even a deer running away from the hash point (yep, he was there first, I came second), but the woodpeckers remained invisible. Damn. Well, I had forgot my binoculars anyway.

Here I watch the time. 10:50, that makes it... 2 hours. Spot on! But you know how it is, you start all pumped up and fast, and well, now you have to go back and the motivation is not the same ¿^^ Right before continuing some dark clouds covered the sky and it became colder. It's not supposed to rain, but you never know.. They didn't seem suspicious and it looked like they would past fast. Lucky for me I was not wrong.

Then I continued with the planed route. First Ranzin, where I found the Mailbox I was looking for (it had to be on the way so to not compromise the potential tron tracklog). Mailed the postcards and went for a geocache. After Ranzin it was turn for Gribow. Also stopped for a geocache. My plans where to eat here somewhere, but I didn't find the place, and since I went faster than expected, I thought that I would stop later. And stop I did, but not for eating...

I started the report saying it hasn't been the easiest expedition. So far, everything seemed fine. Well, right arriving in Dambeck I notice the pressure of the front wheel is lower than it's supposed to be. Oh-oh, don't panic. I am equipped this time. I stopped at the bus station and took a look at the wheel. It needs air, no question about that. I grab my air pump and started inflating the wheel. And when the pressure seems normal again, there it is, I took my ear closer and... tssssssssss, that snake-like sound. Eeeehh, is it the pump that is losing air? (I was fully aware it wasn't the case, but one wants to believe sometimes). Tsssssss, touch the wheel and there I feel it, the tube (is it called "tube" in english? hope so) was loosing air. Aww. Well. Time to adapt. My first plan was to continue and stop every, what, 5-10 minutes and pump again, see how serious it is.

So, started riding again and.. yeah, it won't work. Faster than before, the wheel had less pressure. I must stop. I chose a place near the road on a field and started changing tubes. Actually, last week I had to change and repair the.. rear wheel tube. Now I had problems with the front one. I guess that is what you get when you trust an old bike ^^ I mean, I enjoy repairing my bike, but on my free time not in the middle of an expedition.

Now, since I stopped, I was sweaty and it was windy, it got cold again, so I put on a jacket I had with me. A few minutes later the bike was (hopefully) again ready for battle.

After that, the only difficulty was that my legs were starting to get tired, but I was already close from home, and when you are close you find some hidden energy. Since the bike situation stressed me a little, I decided I would eat something home. I did not want any more unexpected situations.

I reached home at 13:33, with a successful tron tracklog 51.6km later. And that's it.

Video

Ok, it's clear that I am no expert editing videos. However, critics say there hasn't been such a great road movie since Easy rider, and I don't want to contradict the critics so...

Footage has been speeded up (x4) for obvious reasons. Otherwise, who would watch a 1+ hour video of some random guy riding a bike? I mean, it's 18 minutes long, other than my parents I think the potential public watching this video is pretty narrow. At least it has some background music.
