The Astoria Column overlooks the town of Astoria, Oregon.

The Astoria, Oregon graticule is at latitude 46, longitude -123. The northern three-quarters of the graticule is actually in the state of Washington. The terrain is dominated by the forests of the rugged Coast Range, punctured by the narrow valley and broad mouth of the Columbia River and the lowlands near Wilapa Bay and Grey's Harbor in Washington. The modest urban area around Aberdeen, Washington is at the extreme northern edge of the graticule, and ocean beaches and Oregon beach towns can be found in its southwestern corner.
