I geohash mostly in the Vernon and Mabel Lake, British Columbia graticules. It's a great place to be if you like to get to the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately it also means there's no other geohashers around.
Getting There
I drive a Subaru Legacy, which is a great car for all the unpaved roads here. It doesn't always cut it on the logging roads and four-wheeler trails, which are required for most hash points. Nevertheless, I think I surprise some of the pickups passing by, and sometimes myself.
I enjoy hiking, and soon invested in some real boots and a backpack from the Mountain Equipment Co-op. The stuff is worth every penny. I still can't get everywhere I want, and find myself looking at dual-sport motorcycles, river kayaks, and snowshoes.
Photography
I enjoy photography, and geohashing gave me the last incentive I needed to purchase a digital SLR. My early photos are with a point & shoot, and I'm still learning with the SLR. I've since purchased a good tripod, a shutter release, a hot shoe level, and a polarizing filter. I hope as I continue, I'll be able to look at my photos and see a progression of improvement.
You can check out my favourites of others, and eventually some of my own.
Botany
Started Category:Flora, plan to add one per expedition.
