The Newark graticule is at 40 N, -74 W. This may very well be the most populous graticule in the United States, easily in the neighborhood of 10 million people. It includes almost the entire northern half of New Jersey, the most densely populated state (Census), as well as Staten Island, western sections of Brooklyn and lower Manhattan in New York, and a part of Pennsylvania northeast of Philadelphia. In addition, other than Raritan Bay, there are no large sections of water.

Attempted geohashes

Main page: Meetup in 40 -74
  • August 16, 2008
    • Field near Plainsboro. Zubenelgenubi followed the "visitors" signs on the Black Rock lot before veering down a semi-public-looking abandoned roadway until a security guard arrived. Does not qualify as a Police Geohash as this was just an amiable rent-a-cop. No proof.
  • Friday, June 13, 2008
    • Forest Hill Rd, Staten Island, New York. There may have been a meetup at the Staten Island Mall, but no claim has been made yet. (start here)
  • Thursday, June 12, 2008
    • US 206, Hillsborough. Jevanyn has claimed a Cubicle Geohash honorable mention, but has not yet provided proof. (start here).
  • Sunday, June 1, 2008
    • A backyard in Denville. trntr claims he was there, but has not yet provided proof. (start here).

Daily Locations

Airgeohashballoon.png The southeast corner of a storage building at Teterboro Airport in Teterboro. Restricted access.

A soccer field at a park on Stony Ford Road, near Newton, PA.

A farmer's field, just off I-80 West past exit 12. Not close enough for a Speed Racer Geohash.

Watergeohash.jpg Upper New York Bay again, a little further north this time. Or visit Swinesburg in the Allentown graticule.

West Windsor Community Park, near N Mill Rd. in Princeton Junction. Not far from the Princeton campus; if you've never been, it's a nice place to visit. Maybe you'll see someone throw a desk out a window.

Undeveloped land near Cassville, way the heck away from the nearest road. Close to Six Flags Great Adventure. I know where I would go, if I was free on Saturday!
