The Newark [[graticule]] is at 40 N, -74 W. This may be the most populous graticule in the United States, with a population in the neighborhood of 7 million people.  It includes almost the entire northern half of New Jersey, the most densely populated state ([http://www.census.gov/population/censusdata/90den_stco.txt Census]), as well as Staten Island, western sections of Brooklyn and lower Manhattan in New York, and a part of Pennsylvania northeast of Philadelphia.  In addition, other than Raritan Bay, there are no large sections of water.

: (12/7) There's something about Lambertville lately.  This time it's off Goat Hill Road south of town. It's back in the woods, but behind several houses, so it's hard to tell ifit's accessible, private property, or what have you. Hunterdon County.

: Close to Lambertville again!  This time it's in the D&R Canal State Park north of the city, close to the river.  If you follow the trail north from town, it will take you over the canal and out to a break in the trees toward a boat landing; the geohash is 20m north of the break and 30m from the river itself. Also, check out the fun image interface artifact in Google Maps on the Pennsylvania side of the nearby 202 bridge. On one hand, you can avoid the tolls to cross the river, on the other hand, there might be some trouble.

Our Graticule

The Newark graticule is at 40 N, -74 W. This graticule is among the most populous in the United States, with a population in the neighborhood of 7 million people. It includes almost the entire northern half of New Jersey, the most densely populated state (Census), as well as Staten Island, western sections of Brooklyn and lower Manhattan in New York, and a part of Pennsylvania northeast of Philadelphia. In addition, other than Raritan Bay, there are no large sections of water.

The New York Stock Exchange, where Geohashes are generated, is located in this graticule. On 2019-02-04, the hash location fell approximately six blocks from it.

Suggested Meetup Locations

Interesting reachable locations will be posted the same day as they come up. The 80%-90% rate of private property discourages me from updating more often.

Geohashers can also receive daily emails with automated Google address lookup through activegeohasher.com.

Meetups are usually worked out between geohashers when an accessible location comes up. Get to know your neighbors :-)

The geohash for the date in the original comic (May 26, 2005) is challenging but reachable, in Mill Brook, Morris County. If you make an attempt, tell us about it here!
