So, for the first time in awhile, I have a free Saturday (I think). I definitely would like to make an excursion to wherever the Seattle GeoHash is that day or an alternate. Morethen willing to pick up people and/or carpool. Takers? - Narfy

July 11-13

Friday and Saturday are in the water, Sunday in the middle of a rail yard. Friday's alternate (see below or here is the best bet for a meetup this week. --Thomcat 13:51, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Saturday is about the best water location possible: in Lake Washington in beautiful weather, and yet far enough offshore that it's impressive. And if we don't all reach the exact location, Madrona Park is good. Jack 06:58, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

July 19th-20th

Olympia? It's in Olympia all weekend. Anyone know if that Saturday is accessible? I wanted to go to the hash on the way north, not backtrack to Olympia. -Robyn

Saturday should be accessible, although in the wilds of the woods so wear appropriate hiking boots. I will ironically be in Seattle that day.

If people are interested in the Sunday meetup, I'm there. It'd be a great time to attempt the Golf Geohash, we could be the first! -Marcy

Weekend August 1-3

Friday 8/1 - restricted, unless you have access to Fort Lewis

Saturday 8/2 - Hartstene Island, looks reachable

Sunday 8/3 - Puget Sound

Neighboring graticules don't look much better for this weekend. Enjoy Seafair instead I guess.

I suggest that we meet up on Saturday at Gasworks Park for Tour de Fat, a free event hosted by New Belgium Brewery. Bicycles, circus arts, amazing bands, and beer. This was one of my favorite events of 2007 and I have high hopes for 2008's version. I would also suggest moving up the meeting time to noon so there's plenty of events remaining. -Marcy

August 8th-10th

Friday it's in the drink (Pleasane Harbor), right off 101, with a view of Hood Canal.
Saturday's meetup appears to be private property, but near Carbonado, and on the way to the north flanks of Mount Rainier. I can't make a meetup, though - I'll be out of town.
Sunday is restricted, except for those navy guys maybe. Bangor Naval Submarine base.

It's right near the ferry terminal from Seattle. And it's free. But you have to go home, when it's over. My apartment is too small and dirty for guests. But if you feel the need (the need for ~~speed~~ the Dread Pirate Roberts!), you should be there.

August 22-24

All south end. Saturday is in the middle of Long Lake east of Olympia. Sunday in Seattle is just off the railroad tracks near the Tacoma Narrows bridge, and probably not public property. Still, could be fun to organize a train trip for geohashing on Sunday. Will look into that. --Thomcat 13:51, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Amtrak Cascades is the train in question. The southend crew could take the #506 leaving Olympia at 2:03pm and arriving in Seattle at 3:55pm. All geohashers could take the #509 leaving Seattle at 5:30pm and arriving in Olympia at 6:54pm. Finally the northend crew could take the #508, leaving Olympia at 8:03pm and arriving in Seattle at 9:45pm. Movies on the Pedestal

Found out about this through CouchSurfing, and thought that you guys might want to hit a free movie if you're in town. This Thursday it's 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith', and then the last one in the programme is 'Hot Fuzz', so that should be fun (and I'm actually gonna be around for it! WOOHOO!!). Friday, Saturday, and Monday are all reachable points. Unfortunately, Saturday is south of Tacoma and not really too near PAX. Road trip after the 4:00 meetup, perhaps?

September 5-7

Friday is on Bremerton's peninsula. Sunday is Lake Tapps (splash). Saturday is in somebody's yard, but may I respectfully propose this. Saturday's point in Mt. St. Helens, Washington is in the foothills of Mount Rainier, and looks to be close to a logging road. How about meeting up in Eatonville, then driving and/or biking our way up that road, then hiking in to the trees at the exact point. 3:00 in the park, then leave for the point from there. Expedition discussion on 2008-09-06 46 -122. If you are feeling really crazy, Sunday's point in the same graticule is near the crater, and a pretty easy hike from the forest road. --Thomcat 14:10, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

The first spot that showed up this morning was 47.765857, -122.212144; 4.4 km from where I work. Since I haven't been to a geohash in almost two weeks, that would have been great. Ahoy and avast, maties! No idea where the winds will blow the coordinates today, but at first sighting they are mostly in the sou-westers. I carved a temporary page to keep an eye on the scalawags. September 26-28

So Many Islands

Friday's island spot is off Toe Jam Hill Road on Bainbridge Island, and doesn't look too accessible on the satellite photo. Saturday's island spot is Possession Estates on Whidbey island, not far from the ferry and a beach park nearby. Sunday is in the middle of the Puyallup river, and not an island in sight.

October 3-5

Friday very close to downtown - but in the Sound unfortunately. Saturday is off in the wilds of the western peninsula, and Sunday is in Commencement bay. After two in a row October 1 and 2, I somehow knew I'd have no luck on the weekend.

Sparkamus Prime is up in Vancouver on Saturday, and the geohash is so easy it's trivial. Beats our hash near Lake Tapps. Friday northwest of Bremerton airport, Sunday southeast of Bremerton airport. For Saturday it's Tacoma, the north side of someones house or barn. Couple of nice parks nearby if somebody wants to setup an alternate. For me, it's halloween fun with the kids - pumpkins, merchant trick or treating, and the like. November 7-9

Friday it's a ways Southwest of Bremerton, Saturday near a little town called South Prairie. Sunday is offshore between Edmonds and Mukilteo, straight west of Meadowdale Park. I still like the idea of visiting the mountains to the south, but to do that *and* get credit for the graticule, the point has to be towards the northend - highway 165 or 706 for Mount Rainier, for instance. November 17-24

Not that I have anything against Hood Canal or the land west of Bremerton, but come on - ~~four~~ five geohashes in a row there? The weekend is far more favorable, with a Saturday geohash in an open field between Issaquah and Cedar Grove, and Sunday's geohash in Farrel McWhirter park in Redmond. Friday and Sunday are towards the graticule edges, with Saturday right in the middle. It's an apparently vacant lot, according to Zillow, just east of this house. Friday is a bus lane on I-405. No way I could make it at 4:00, but I'd like to find public transport to take me through there earlier in the day. Saturday is (again) in the water just off Everett. Sunday is definitely private property, namely the estate of this huge house (thanks Zillow). For an estimated $880,500 you could have a couch-potato geohash.

Holiday weekend, how's your hash?

Friday and Saturday are Woodinville and Bothell, and both close to Thomcat's work. Sunday it's a hillside in Gig Harbor, and Monday Bainbridge island (in Island Center park). Only Sunday looks truly difficult. Time to research Friday and Saturday. --Thomcat 15:14, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

February 27-March 01

February 27 location in the Mt. Rainier graticule is too close to pass up on a beautiful day like this, especially since I haven't been to Mount Rainier National Park and it's a virgin graticule. I'll be driving, probably leaving home around 10:00 and arriving NLT 11:00 depending on how badly I get lost. February 28 location is about two miles from my home, so I'll probably walk (I hope the weather isn't too bad) and will arrange to be there at 4:00 PM. March 01 is no good for me. Thanks to New User for filling in while I was off the continent. Another geohasher I need to meet, although today's Whidbey Island hash won't be it. Just south of us the hash is just south of Fort Lewis in a decidedly bare looking patch of land. Saturday is just SE of that for both graticules - a water hash for Seattle. Sunday is in Hood Canal. Actually, Sunday in Snoqualmie doesn't look too bad - Duthie Hill Park is a mountain biking park. Please post a trail map here if you find one. No idea if the hash is on one of the trails, but it looks like a fun expedition regardless! --Thomcat 15:06, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

March 13-15

Friday's geohash is not-close-enough to the Edmonds Kingston ferry run. Well, close enough to be in danger of being struck by a ferry, but not close enough to ride through it on the ferry, assuming they follow the dotted line closely. The Saturday or Pi-Day geohash looks pretty good - someone's backyard in upper Factoria/Newcastle, and very near Cougar Mountain. I'm not that familiar with the trails, but it would be a nice combined expedition to visit the house at, oh, say 1:59pm, then go for a hike in the nearby wilderness. This alternate meetup time would definitely count for Centurion. For Sunday I have to ping HarlequinsDad, because this geohash is in the Shilshole bay marina. --Thomcat 13:47, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Was hoping for a good Mount Rainier or Mount St Helens geohash, but not this weekend. Friday and Sunday are off on the peninsula. September 4-7

Friday is behind the Magnolia Self Storage here in Seattle. Saturday a steep hillside near Highway 101 on the peninsula. Sunday is also on the peninsula, and Monday is the parking lot for Endeavor Middle School in Milton. A good Saturday alternative is just south of Olympia Airport. A very remote suggestion for Sunday is 7800' up the North Mowich Glacier in the Mount Rainier graticule. --Thomcat 14:28, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

You have now fallen to 4th place in Most Coordinates Reached. Do you guys want to admit that the Germans are better Geohashers?
